I started this off as a reply to a help thread, but got carried away. Here is now my guide to Gruul's Lair. It is written by me, Amedis, 70 Warrior of Tichondrius. If you're going to use it, atleast give me credit.
THE GUIDE!
Gruul's Lair is a very easy raid. The hardest parts are the Maulgar pull, and having enough DPS for Gruul himself. Ill go over it all in this thread.
High King Maulgar
VERY easy fight, not so easy pull. When you're starting off, the pull is easily the hardest part of this encounter. Let me start off by explaining how to pull, and what to kill.
The Pull
You should have atleast 2 hunters in your group, so for the misdirect purposes of this guide, you have 2. You'll want your mage tank to pull. Keep in mind, ATLEAST 10k Buffed HP is required for your mage-tank. Have your mage-tank count down, and then let loose his most damaging attack. Your 2 MD's should be up at this point. First, MD High King Maulgar to your main tank. Second, MD the Warlock to your Druid OT. Have your 3rd tank pick up the Priest, and have your Boomkin Druid ranged attack the Shaman.
You should have your warlocks standing by to enslave the warlocks pets. Once enslaved, have his pets tank him.
Mage-tank .. REMEMBER! Spell steal the mages sheild, EVERY TIME ITS UP.
DPS Order
Simple enough. The priest dies first. Make sure your rogues and DPS warrior are kicking/stunning him as much as possible. Dont let him heal!
Next, the Warlock. After the warlocks have enslaved his pets, they will tank him. DPS him down.
At this point, there is 2 ways of doing things.
1) You will split your dps. Ranged will attack the Mage, and Melee will attack High King Maulgar. After the Mage is dead, the ranged will move on to the Shaman. After the Shaman, High King.
2) Split DPS again, but have your Melee on the Shaman, and Ranged on the Mage. When their respective target is down, move to High King.
Congrats. You've killed your first real raid boss.
Gruul the Dragonslayer
Another VERY easy fight, if you have the DPS.
The Pull
Have your entire raid standing inside the doorway. They shut when you start. Have your hunter MD your main tank, and have him run to the middle of the white spot where Gruul starts. Have your OT (Druid pref) get a MD from your other hunter.
The Fight
DPS, DPS, DPS. All out. Early Heroism, because when you're first starting out, people are bound to die, and you want to use Heroism to its fullest.
Gruul does 4 things. Shatter, Silence, Hateful Strike and Grow. Shatter is an ability where he bring everyone to him, and then throw you around the room. The idea is to stay away from each other, so SPREAD OUT. Silence, is well, a silence. No casting. Druids/Priests, keep HoTs on your tanks. Grow, he gets bigger, doing more and more damage. If you hit grow 15, you're more or less dead. Aim for 12 when first starting. Hateful strike is what he does to your OT. He will randomly turn around and smack him. This does alot of damage, but is all Physical, so you can mitigate it, hence a Druid Tank.
DPS, DPS, DPS. Congrats, you've cleared Gruul's Lair.
