[Guide] Hunter Kiting

First you need to decide if you want to do a kite for LENGTH (e.g. kiting a mob to a city and around the city and shit), or if you want to kite the mob for the KILL (like a 5-man quest mob that you cant find anybody for).

Second, figure out how long its going to take, compared to your mana pool. In order to kite, you MUST maintain debuffs on the mob. The best way I have found to do this is to continually keep up rank 1 serpent sting. It costs zilch mana, and lasts quite a long time.

Some helpful tips before you start out.

1) Know the mobs speed. If you need cheetah, know that you cannot have viper up, and will need mana pots for any extended kite.

2) If you need more than cheetah, bring speed pots, enchant speed stuff, anything that helps you get that running speed up.

3) Practice Jump-shots. This is where you run in one direction, jump, spin 180 degrees, fire a shot off, then spin back to front and continue running more or less in the same direction. Practice this. It rules. (NOTE: some people prefer to strafe (running sideways and turning slightly facing the mob to get a shot off, and then turning back to continue strafing. I prefer facing the direction I'm running, in case of any obstacles or additional mobs, but strafing works well on shorter kites.)

4) REMEMBER TO KEEP UP DEBUFFS. I know serpent sting lasts like 12 seconds or w/e, but sometimes the beast till deaggro anyways. Try to hit him at LEAST every 5 seconds. Arcane shot rank 1 works well for this also.

5) Keep your combat log open in another window so you can see if you miss a shot. If you shoot and miss, immediately shoot again before you lose aggro.

6) Note that if you decide to send your pet to help you dps it down, MAKE SURE IT DOESNT PULL AGGRO. Also, I find pets can be helpful to aggro any mobs you might run in to. Let the pet take this mob, and leave it fighting the mob. Once your pet despawns because you are running away from it, call it back with a simple Call Pet.

FOR LENGTH: Viper/Cheetah with pots. Rank 1 Serpent Sting and Arcane Shot.

FOR KILLING: Hawk/Cheetah/Viper. Highest Rank of skills. Pet without Growl on. Immo traps. Pots if you need em.

Know that people doesn't like leechers whining.
If a hunter at level 70 didn't know all of this they should reroll, seriously.
You should use Arcane shot instead of Serpent Sting(so you got the possibility to trap the mob if needed) and include how to kite with pets.

But you did an effort to contribute and for that you should get +rep
