[Addon] My Sexymap presets and how to share your own!

First off, for anyone who has never heard of or downloaded Sexymap before:
Sexymap is an addon that provides some extra eye candy to your boring ol’ minimap.
SexyMap - Addons - Curse
I recommend you try it out, its great and not at all laggy.


Anyone who is familiar with Sexymap and has made their own custom maps has probably wanted to share them. I’m here to show you how to do that, by sharing my own with you all : )

Below are the how to’s

================I want to add your presets.===================

Make sure WoW is CLOSED.

Download and extract the files to your desktop for simplicity.

Highlight the .lua and .lua.bak files.

Copy and paste them into your:
“World of warcraft > WTF > Account >
[AccountName] > SavedVariables” directory.


*Important* Do you already have files with the same name there?

--Yes: You have used Sexymap before and/or have created maps.
--If you have created your own maps please backup the
sexymap.lua and sexymap.bak files somewhere.

--If you have NOT created your own maps, fearlessly overwrite the files.

--No: Make sure you have the original Sexymap addon before doing these steps. If you do,
then go ahead and add the files.


Right click somewhere in the folder and hit “Refresh”

Start up WoW and make sure Sexymap is enabled.

Get on a character. If done correctly, you should have a shiny blue map.

Right click your new map and you should see multiple customization options.

You should also see above a drop down list “Select a preset to load”

If done correctly my maps should be there. Enjoy! : ) and feel free to edit their settings

==================I want to share MY presets===================

The data to your Sexymap presets is stored in your “World of warcraft > WTF > Account >
[AccountName] > SavedVariables” folder under the names “SexyMap.lua” and “SexyMap.lua.bak”

Copy those to your desktop.

Send those to the person you want to share them with, and have them put it in their “World of warcraft > WTF > Account > [AccountName] > SavedVariables” folder.

Make sure they haven’t created any maps of their own or they will be overwritten.

**NOTE** Let’s pretend you’re Jack and you want to share your maps with Jill and you both use the same
computer. Get those two files from “World of warcraft > WTF > Account > JACK > SavedVariables.” and copy+paste them into “World of warcraft > WTF > Account > JILL > SavedVariables.”

Anticipated FAQ:

Q: Are the original Sexymap presets in your download?
A: Yes, don’t worry.

Q: If I download this where will the maps I have made go?
A: They will be deleted, back them up.

Q: This looks very laggy, will it slow down my game?
A: As far as I’m concerned, no. It’s very lightweight.

Q: Do you do requests?
A: If its possible and if I like the idea : )

Q: VIRUSES?!?11
A: No.

Anyways, here's a quick easy peasy how-to make the minimap do what it was made for along with my map pack



You can do that to any of the borders on any of the maps without fear of losing the original preset. To restore the original preset, load a different preset, and then load the set you had previously. Cheers! :)

*IMPORTANT* Do not download the below attachment. It is outdated. The download is up towards the top. (I have no idea how to remove the attachment...)

I liked your presets, i used to use sexymap, with custom made presets, but this ones are great^^ create a Rogue one.

even tho they look great, to actualy use them there is way to much goin on. especialy the shadowpriest and DK maps are obstructed by random stuff making it hard to seen anything on the map at first glance.

Just this on its on own wont cause lag all that much but combined with other addons it will add up and might cause a bottleneck.

Some of these are decent but many of them are also pointless, since you use so much color and graphics inside the map that you can no longer see anything.
Sexymap is cool, but let's not forget it's supposed to be a map, not some pretty spinny thing on your screen!

Some of these are decent but many of them are also pointless, since you use so much color and graphics inside the map that you can no longer see anything.
Sexymap is cool, but let's not forget it's supposed to be a map, not some pretty spinny thing on your screen!

I've added a quick tutorial in a simple picture so that you no longer have to choose between a minimap and a pretty spinny thingy. :] haha

This may be silly, but is it possible to request, or make a border for kgpanels to match the DK unholy sexymap border in your addon?

here is a quick snap of my UI and it would just look awesome if the panels matched your minimap graphic!

I would, but I'm currently unfamiliar with both that addon and image editing to that extent. >.< sorreh! Try searching around google and cropping things. Or perhaps try the sunn viewport art addon, that has some sweet presets. Check it out, Search Results For "sunn" - Addons - Curse

I'd love to get these, unfortunately I am unable to get the download to work.

The download is working as far as I can tell. Try switching between browsers and see if that works. Or maybe give me your email so I could simply directly send the files to you.
