Say nothing at all in party/general chats.

Not sure if this is a repost or even in the right section. But it's very simple I came across awhile ago

    \nope
    or \n or \no
could be intended but not sure about it if it just contains nothing but empty message :|
just type that and you got an empty worded message to the chat that everyone can even see!

Say chat: Thatguy says something unintelligible
Yell chat: Thatguy yells at his team members
    trade/general/party/raid/ect chat: Thayguy:

    Enjoy!

Say nothing at all in party/general chats.

Is supposed to impersonate someone else ingame? I'll test it when servers come back up.

Actually no matter what chat you're in, \n will leave a blank message. \nowaythatscrazy will leave a blank message. For some reason, anything beginning with \n will be considered null and not shown. I found this about a year ago, JUST checked now to see if i could post it as original content, and you posted it 2 days ago. -__- damn laziness. But yeah, it's a great way to frustrate people if you find that enjoyable.

In programming, \n is an escape character, which instead prints the start of a new line instead of "\n". I guess Blizzard is just lazy about sanitizing their text or it breaks some length requirements.

I think some of it is sanitized. For example when you try to say "\124" it will say "\124", not "|". I think they may have just overlooked \n because, quite frankly, I don't see any harm a new line character could do to a standard chat message. Just a theory there.

I haven't tried it yet, but theoretically, you should get the same "blank message" result with something like \t (tab character), \r (return character), and maybe \b (backspace character).

Nope when you try \t or \r it just types it into the game chat.
but it seems like it will only happen when you start \n with an n it doesnt mather what you put behind it. \nsudhfijhsdlkfjhozejghfougzeiofgoi will give the same message.

Back in vanilla there was an exploit using \n in macros that was pretty bad iirc, hence their fix.
