NPCscan - Northern Exposure

If you are around Dalaran for most of the day of any of the areas surrounding Icecrown you may suddenly get a warning telling you that 'Putridus the Ancient' is on the prowl.

My guild is often full of people talking about their NPCscan glitching with his name despite standing in Dalaran, this is not a glitch, Putridus just has a very large area of detection.

If you see this and are after the achievement then Putridus has actually spawned and you will want to head to Icecrown ASAP.

Click here to see a map for his spawn points and the path he takes.

Once you get into Icecrown, spam /target Putridus (You may want to macro it). You should be able to target him from a very large distance (Including some areas of Dalaran).

Make sure you have your settings configured to show the mobs greatest threat in his target window, so that if someone beats you to him you can ask for an invite and still recieve the achievement.

Ya I have noticed this as well... Fortunately, if yo uread the fine Print, if NPCscan goes off while in Dalaran, or another area, it usually says that it is probably a false alarm because that NPC is in another zone, or in other words, it likely is someone's name of their pet.

BUT, with putridus, it DOES NOT give that warning in Dalaran, it just says it's detected. And yes, he just has an insane visual distance reader. You better move fast though, mine went off 3 different times, and the first two, the 1-2 min it took me to fly from Dal to the southern edge of IC I still couldn't get to him before he had been tagged by some ally. 3rd time a group of horde were already there and they invited me to their group before the kill lol SO MOVE FAST! haha

It is, but people prefer to be in dalaran for trade and lfg chat, this isn't meant to be a sure fire guide of getting the achieve, it's just something that if it happens... and it most likely will is meant to clear some things up.

But if you are willing to put the time in staying in icecrown would be more effective, although there is probably a less known faster spawning mob for those who wish to farm it.
