I bought a 30 day card for 12k gold. Curious.

Was on my server and saw some guy in trade chat selling 30 day time cards for 12k each. Seemed like a good deal to me so I /w him and he asked for 2.5k gold up front. I did it and then he sent me the code. I activated the code and it seems to work fine so I traded the rest of the gold.

I'm just curious now is this key likely to get 'stopped' or something? Is this a common scam of some sort?

It's a very common scam. Don't buy gametime off trade chat.

You are free to play with this gametime for several hours up to 2-3 days at max, then indeed you will get it removed, with or without blizz notice on your mailbox.

These are called on the forums "unfreeze codes", going as low as 0.5-1$ off the chinese dealers and technically they are (legitimate or not) obtained 30 days codes, which are charged back 2-3 days after purchase.
