Do goldsellers use rented accounts as "mules"?

I have heard about people renting accounts to goldsellers and stealing thousands of their gold. Can this be true?

Why should a goldseller use a rented account to transfer gold to customers, when they can do use free and secure trial accounts to accomplish the same thing? So do they just send goldspam tells to random people with the rented accounts?

I don't think they use them as mules to send the gold, but rather as mules to send mats to and sell on the AH.

I just took an account back from a Chinese company the other day after renting it to them. Had a level 1 toon on a server that didn't have any other toons on it. Literally had netherweave bags FULL of JC stuff (tons of blue gems etc) and a shit ton of Titanium Bars as well as 2k gold.

The reason they do this has to be b/c of the restrictions placed on trial accounts. I'm surprised trial accounts are even allowed to level nowadays w/ all the restrictions Blizz has

Does Blizzard delete toons or take away the gold/mats if the acc is banned?

Not sure. If you take the account back after a day or two the account shouldn't have been banned anyway.

I would give them 1 day (1.5 if it was a weekend) just in case as they get banned quick and they only use them for quick spaming mules. However i have to actually scam an account before i can try this
