This scam is something similar to the girlfriend scam, but in my opinion, takes far less time and effort to achieve. You will need to be a persuasive, flexible talker however. Though a creative imagination for thinking up lies wouldn't hurt either.

Now onto how to do this scam.

1) Make a female lvl 1 alt.
2) Open up the good 'ole Who List and select a random to prey on. You will want someone who you know will have gold and lots of it. Meaning pretty much anyone well over level 40. (I myself prey on the lvl 60s and higher, since girl, you know it to be true that they will have the gold you seek.)
3) Now whisper your selected target something along the line of "hey babes " MOST of them will say something along the lines of "Uhh... who is this?" or, "Do I know you?"
Don't worry, all part of the scam.
4) I love guessing games? Don't you? Reply back to the person something along the lines of "guess who!!"
5) Now, hopefully they will try guess some random friends that they know. If they don't, even with provokings of "come on i bet you know!" or "really? you have no idea?" or even "just one guess!" - then my advice to you is to stop talking to them now, they are just a waste of time.
6) Now here starts the wonderfully delicious game of deceit. You now pretend to be the friend that they have guessed, if they guess multiple friends then just pick one whom you think will be the most easiest to impersonate. Just say something along the lines of "damn how'd you guess!" or "haha, am i that obvious?!" and now you need your reason to as why your on this unepiced out alt instead of your main. (My fav. reason to use is that I 'm pretending to be a girl for kicks ~ even though I am one IRL, it's just that much easier. ^^)
7) You are now their so called "friend" whom they guessed, so, act the part. People who have good speechcraft skills will excel at this. For some hints try look at the way they reply to you and reply back in the same sort of way that their friend would. For instance, yesterday I was some guy's best friend. I didn't talk as I normally would, for one, I had alot more dudes, mans, bros and cussing in my replys to him and the poor idiot was none the wiser. :3
Now talk with them for awhile. TBC is always a good, safe topic as it just came out. Once you've gained their trust, time to cash in. Ask for a loan to buy some cheap enchanting mats in Org or IF or something like that. MAKE SURE THEY WILL SEND THE GOLD TO THE ALT THAT YOU'RE ON THOUGH! Otherwise you did all this for naught, hehe. Don't be so blinkin' obvious though or they could get suspicious. Just say you need to buy it soon since they guy selling them is going like now and your main is ages away. Don't ever try guess where the person you're impersonating's main is. Could have disastrous results.
9) Thank them to no end and be like yeah I'll repay you etc, etc. Now just mail the well-deserved (heh) gold to your real playing char, delete this now useless alt and wash, rinse, repeat.

I have gotten loads, and I mean loads, doing this and Blizz still hasn't caught me out yet. ^__^ I plan on adding screenshots later too of some conversations I've done whilst pretending to be the "friend".

Consider yourself lucky since anyone you've scammed that way is naive or just plain stupid. But then again, most online players ARE just naive\stupid. This is actually a pretty risky and unstable scam, I'll give it a 4 / 10. PS: If you want to scam, just use your brains, there's a lot of stupid people out there, but make sure you avoid the smart one's, they could really f#ck you.

On a rare occasion will 60's have lots of gold. This due to Nax/BWL/MC repairs. So you would waist a good amount of time trying to find someone that does.

So lets say you do get their friendship. What if their friend didnt play WoW? Or said they tried it and didnt like it? Or if worst comes to worst they will ask you a question about that hilarious time with him and you (the "friend"), well i dont know how you would play along with that.

You fu.cking morons. What the heck do you mean this might be 'unstable' and only deserves a 4/10? I give this a fu.cking 10/10. There is no way you can go wrong with this scam, it is 100% fullproof. Even if you ask for 1g it is a successful scam and therefore awesome. Don't try and say this isn't just fu.cking sweet because, if anything, this is the best scam I have seen in ages.

Oh, it seems like a few of you got confused by when I said their friend, hehe. I meant that you pretend to be one of their ingame WoW friends, if they also happen to be an IRL friend too that's ok, just make sure you scam fast to avoid any awkward questions. And think of it this way, if you're their friend, why would they pop you a question to see if it really is their friend, unless they are suspicious?

The only backfires in this scam are if the friend that your pretending to be logs in, or if you somehow slip up and they discover you. This has happened to me once and all I did was calmly smile, logout, delete then remade a new alt and tried on someone else. ^_^
