World of Warcraft Client Patch 2.4.0 (12/8/07)
Angerflame Crevasse
- The newest dungeon, Angerflame Crevasse, is now live in Shadowmoon Valley. It features two wings, both of which are identical in content to Ragefire Chasm, but scaled up to level 70 and tinted green and blue, respectively.
General
- A new faction, the Neverending Grindmasters, has been added in Terokkar Forest! Players begin at Neutral with them, but they may run a repeatable quest that requires them to gather 100 Void Crystals for 1 reputation point. At Exalted, a new tabard becomes available, emblazoned with the motto "I HAVE NO LIFE" in glowing blue font!
- We are experiencing unforeseen issues due to the huge number of Blood Elf players being created. To help alleviate this issue, a one-way portal has been placed by the mailbox in Stormwind City to the center of the Blood Elf starting area in Eversong Forest. In addition, all kills of Blood Elf players are considered honorable regardless of the levels of the assailants, and now reward 250 Honor points each. Hopefully this will encourage Horde players to branch out in their choice of race for new characters.
- Zeppelins and boats may now randomly come under attack by Dark Iron dwarf flying machines, triggering a unique instance! Players will find their Hearthstones disabled during the instance, but may reactivate them using an item looted from the level 75 elite final boss. There are no other methods of escape.
- All players that /say or /yell an identical message longer than 2 lines twice in the same one-minute period while in a major city (Stormwind, Ironforge, the Exodar, Orgrimmar, Undercity, or Silvermoon) will immediately show up as an enemy to their own faction. All attacks made against them in this state will cause an explosive art effect, and if killed in this state, their bodies will messily explode.
- The Paladin class has been removed. All current Paladin players will be refunded the cost of their training and prompted to choose a new class on startup, in which they will remain at the same level they were as Paladins.
- Flying mounts are now usable in Azeroth! They may not fly higher than 1 yard above the ground, and will dismount if the player enters combat or flies over water.
- The Pirate Supplies vendor in Booty Bay now sells the Bloodsail Admiral's Hat for 10 silver, along with the other pieces of the Bloodsail pirate costume.
- Because players have been abusing the rest experience system by rotating characters, it has been removed. Instead, logging out in a major city or inn will not affect experience gained, but logging out anywhere else will cause a period where XP from killing monsters is halved. This period grows longer as the player is logged out longer, up to a maximum of 10 levels. If the player is at level 70, the amount of money looted from humanoids and received from quests will be halved instead.
- Due to the potential of abuse of the increased experience gain rate implemented in Patch 2.3, experience gain during levels 1 - 10 has been reduced significantly. It should now take about as long to progress through levels 1 - 10 as it does to progress through levels 61 - 70.
- Mage Armor's appearance has been revised.
Bug Fixes
- Due to a glitch in the game code, the Brewfest mounts did not show a 7 day duration like they were supposed to. This has been fixed.
- Snowballs now properly cause a 5-second stun and are now instant cast.
