Did anyone have luck finding their sold character?
Long time reader. First-time poster.
For past couple of days, I've been trying to find my character which I sold a long time ago. Being the dumbass I was (and probably still am?) I wish to recover that character purely for nostalgia reasons.
Wowtrack is dead. Wowprogress returns pretty much nothing useful. Warcraft realms also gives me zero clues.
Next on my list is making some sort of armory scanning script (or perhaps finding one?). I think it might be the best solution based on the information I have and remember:
- class, old name, name before the first name change
- it has very unique achievements (loads of realm firsts from wotlk). I also remember the exact dates when those achievements were obtained.
- unique (back in WotLK at least) mounts.
So here's question to you folks. What was your luck? What are the chances of actually getting the character back? I'm even willing to send some bucks through paypal for assistance (or maybe some sort of commission? dunno)
Cheers

We do not condone of members trying to scam back their sold characters. Sorry, unless you say you're willing to pay to get your account back from the person you sold it to, this is not allowed on the forum.

Yes. I'm willing to pay for it obviously. It's been 8 years ago and since I gave my id away, I don't think I would be able to get it back through support tickets.
Do you have any ideas or hints for my problem?

There are ways... but if you want to pay to get your character (account?) back, why not try to contact him.
Try email or send him like 50 cent on paypal/bank acc with some note to contact you.

That's one way thank you. Problem is that, I'm 99% sure that this character changed owners at least three times. Perhaps getting through all the owners starting from my original buyer would be possible, but I'd rather not rely on it (mainly because the mails might be temporary, owners not willing to talk, thinking it's scam etc). Finding the char and mailing ingame (if active) is my ideal course of action.

So you got offered imho a great way, by contacting the guy you sold it to, and without trying you instead try to use a different method? Sounds scammy to me. Send the 50 cents and a note attached as well as an email to the contact address and see what turns up first. Maybe if he sold it, he can tell you who he sold it to. What's it going to cost you, a week and $2?
