Exploiting pet battle queues (QUESTION)

Last expansion I logged into a close friend's account and my account and was able to pet battle and surrender to my account to fulfill the 5K pvp achievement. I'm trying to accomplish the same thing but we never get paired. The only thing that has changed since then is that my friend lives in the same house but I moved to the midwest (From living about 5 miles from him). Should I try VPNing near where I used to live or did Blizzard change their system?

Edit: With VPN still not popping. Feels pretty sad. Not sure what to do.

I used to do it a lot and what i found is for some reason, certain accounts would just stop being matched or some wouldn't be matched at all. It didn't matter what realm/faction i tried i could never match them again so i would have to try another account and see if that matched. Being in the same house doesn't matter, i did all mine with 2 windows on the same computer.

It seem to happen after patches, which makes me think they change something in the matchmaking or it sometimes scrambles it to mix things up withe the queuing system.
