Noob question: Why Skype?
Hi guys/girls.
I'm relatively new to the whole buying and selling scene and had a question.
Why does everyone use Skype for communication while selling or buying? Everyone says to add them on Skype.
Never actually used Skype either so confused.
Thanks and forgive my noobness.

MSN and other instant messaging programs used to be the go-to method until they all died out. Skype emerged as the new big IM program so in turn that's what people began using.
Discord is becoming more common now, but Skype still stands as the undisputed leader for RMT communication at this time.

If the question is why they use Skype as opposed to the in-game chat, that is because chat is recorded and Blizzard can find out & ban you.
Pro tip: If someone asks skype for a legit activity (such as Boost for Gold, sell TCG item etc.) it is a scam

Popularity and usage of VOIP or IM programs shifts over the years, it used to be MSN, hell, I used to use MSN to talk to shady Chinese power-levelers back in TBC and send them western union transfers, but Skype and Paypal works better for me now; I think at one point there was a Curse Voice craze, but that died quickly just like MSN. Skype has relatively "always" had a well known reputation for being the go-to program to communicate to people via instant-messaging, voice calling, and even screen-sharing (sorry if that was obvious and cringe, just proving a point). I dont know why Skype's name is that well-known but other than the billions they've spent on their free servers, and even incorporating it into their operating systems, (Windows 10) I have a theory that it's probably because Microsoftitteez secretly paid juicy $$$ to advertise it by parol over the interwebz, but oh well that's just my conspiracy mumbo-jumbo.
