What's the deal with gold farmers posting account details in trade chat?

Dunno if anyone else has this happening on their server, but on Bleeding Hollow-US there's occasionally a level 1 that will post an e-mail and a password in trade chat.

Obviously I assumed this was account details and went to try, only to be met with a "Change in login pattern" message.

Anyone else see this happen on their server? Why are they doing this? Have you ever managed to get into one of these accounts?

They post account usernames and passwords so multiple people try to log onto it at the same time, just like you did.

When they go to claim the account was hacked later on, it's much easier to get the account back, get the gold restored to sell the exact same gold again. Often, this also means the buyer will have the gold they bought removed.

    Scum move basically.

Oh wow, that's really interesting and scummy. I actually managed to get into the last account details and it turned out the account was completely empty.

Wonder if it's possible to use this kind of method to unban accounts this way.

I tried it, Blizz said at the time of my 6 month ban, my acct wasn't compromised and the attempts to "break into" my account after were an isolated event. 6 month ban still stands -_-

If you're gonna do this, do it BEFORE you get banned. Kinda hard to determine just when a ban wave is coming but, thats my story.
