    Survey for my Master's Thesis

Hey guys and gals. I'm a second year MA student at DePaul University up in Chicago, studying New Media, and right now I'm in the midst of researching for my thesis, and I was wondering if y'all could take a few minutes and take this survey I created. It would help me out immensely.

The topic of my thesis is negativity and abuse in MMOs, and the thrust of my thesis is defining what, exactly, negativity and abuse constitute in the MMOs we play.

Without further adieu, here is my survey.

I would appreciate any responses that I can get.

OwnedCore supports science, but I fail to see the relevance of in-game nickname for this research/survey. Got any reason why you want this to be posted? Besides that, the questions are fair enough and I encourage OwnedCore members to give a minute of their spare time to support science about our favorite hobby

I suggest that OwnedCore users that want to stay anonymous use a nickname like "OwnedCoreUser#3255" or something like that, but the rest of the questions can and should be as honest as possible.

For the semi-paranoid type like me, you could also use a VPN/Proxy to keep your IP adress hidden from the autors of the survey

I'm guessing that since immediately after that question the survey asks real name, that they're just trying to see if there is often a correlation between real name and online alias (For example someone named Kayla naming themselves SuperKAYLAfragilisticexpialidocious, or otherwise incorporating aspects of their name into screen names.

OP, one thing I'd be weary of is the general population and communication methods in games. It is generally understood at this point that derogatory terms have an alternate meaning in games, or at least are intended to be much less offensive than in the real world, and most people recognise that as not being a personal insult -- They'd say it to anybody in the context.
