Banned for Realm Hopping?

So I was on one of my characters doing a lot of realm hopping using the group finder tool when I got booted. Got an email saying "Recent activity on this account has shown characters exploiting functionality to the detriment of the game environment or the intended player experience." and banned for 6 months.

I wasn't botting or anything crazy and was on timeless isle at the time just hunting rares and realm hopping while killing mobs in-between hops. Only thing I can think of is it was a autoban by the system cause I was hopping so much and so often just joining and dropping groups every few minutes. Currently awaiting to speak to a rep but just thought I'd let everyone know in case its some retarded new policy.

Rep said it was most likely a false positive cause I was killing so many mobs and looting so much between hops. Stupid but most likely the cause. Not the first time it's happened to me.

Yeah I just got done reading about the recent banwave. I'm hoping I was just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time doing something that just seemed like botting. Despite that I botted a week ago, I wasn't botting at the moment it hit. Crossing fingers!

Blizzard does not just ban the first bot they see.
They will observe as much as they can, then create algorithms to catch patterns over several months time and then ban"everyone" who used the Bot.
Think of it like a Soul Reaper/Living Bomb Spell cast on you which will ban you some time later.

Well the GM who I spoke to said he would "send it up for a second review" and that he'd get back to me when he found any information but its been 2-3 days now and still no word. Will hold out for a week and then I'm going to just start an appeal/reopening that ticket to see what I can do. It's looking grim like everyone else, folks...

I'm not sure what do you expect. You used the bot, doesn't matter if it was for 10 minutes or 10 hours, it could have been detected either way. And yes, they don't ban you instantly, this time they banned almost everyone at once with the banwave, and caught you while you were realmhopping although this doesn't have anything to do with your ban.
