Question about buying a wow account?

So has anyone done this? People are selling their wow accounts with mounts and shit and I want to know if it can be done? Like you get email+pass+ID+secret answer and everything.

Can the original owner get his account back? How does this work?

Yes, original account owner will always be able to get his account back even if he gives you the email / password / ID / secret answer.

What happens is, if an account recovery is attempted 2-3 times by different people, Blizzard will ask you to submit a different piece of ID than the one you initially submitted. And usually at that point, you can't do anything and the original owner takes it back.

I know people that lost their accounts after 2 years.

When you buy a WoW account, the buyer will generally give you email, password, SQA, ID, CD Keys.

You should then generally change the email address, password and SQA, and pay for gametime with physical cards (or tokens next patch).

Once you log on, disable Real ID to clear the Real ID/Battletag friends list. Log on, log back out and re-enable it if you wish.



As for your second question - Yes, the original owner can get their account back.

You can change the SQA, change the name on the account, transfer the characters to a different account and the Original Owner, if they are persistent enough, can get their account back.

That is why it's important to only ever buy an account from someone you personally know, undoubtedly trust or if they're a reputable seller.

Thanks for the answer guys! I see some of the accounts have some mounts that I want, I don't really care for gear or character as I can get them myself, but the mount is a pain in the ass and have to be lucky to get.. But if the original owner can get the account back then I will most likely not to buy in the future. Thanks again for making it clear!

Oh one more question, I see some people sell characters from a bnet account? So I have to create a new bnet account with the same name as the seller bnet account right? Then they transfer it over?

How does this work? If I do this then they can't possibly get their character back right? Cause it is on my bnet.

They can still get it back just as easily.
