Account locked - advice wanted

Hello all,

I stopped playing for a period of about 3-4 months at the end of mop as I'm sure a lot of others did, I went to log on a month or so before wod release so I could jump back on the pre-expansion band wagon and I was greeted by "your account has been locked" I thought it was strange as I hadn't moved or anything so it shouldn't have been locked do to IP address change, on the bnet account homepage it said beneath the WoW account "Account locked please contact customer support" so I did, here is my ticket:

"My WoW account named: ********** appears to be locked, I'm unable to renew my subscription and all it says is to contact customer support."

Response from Blizzard:

"Greetings Joe,

Thank you for contacting us.

These WoW licenses have been locked on your account as it seems they have different original owners.

Do consider that Battle.net Accounts but also any game licenses can't be shared/traded/sold or even given beyond the "purchase gift" functionality on the Battle.net Shop.

As these accounts all register different original owners they will have to remain locked on this Battle.net until the original owners claim them back.

This was baffling to me for a second and then I remembered how I made the account, it was about 9 years ago when I was about 13 or so and I created the account with two of my friends at the time, we obviously quite quickly realised that we couldn't play together at the same time on the same account (Remember only 13 so still pretty stupid) so my two friends got new accounts and I continued to play this one, but it would appear the original name on the wow account is one of theirs, I asked Blizzard giving them the correct name and they confirmed and asked me to get him to get into contact with them, but I haven't spoke to him since a few months after all this happened, I tried to find him on facebook but couldn't. So I kind of gave up at this point and created a new account, but I've always had it at the back of my mind, my old account had a level 90 of each class, 5 or so were mostly mythic SoO geared w/ legendary, 13 had Challenge Mode gear (I was really into CMs, had all server best titles) and there was about 400k gold. So yeah every time I think about the time and effort that went into the account it really angers/upsets me that it's been pretty much taken from me for no reason.

The only thing I feel like may possibly yield some results at this point is calling Blizzard talking to them on the phone and explaining all this to them. After all the dates would match, I know the original owners name and any other relevant details, I feel like if I can get them to believe me maybe they can do something? If anyone has any advice or help they can give me I would be very grateful, thanks for reading.

Why dont you just add a new set of cd keys to that battle.net so you keep all the achievements and mounts?


And it is VERY strange that they locked the account after playing it for all that time. The only reason i can think of as to why they would lock it is if the licences were from when unmerged accounts existed. But if you said you originally owned the licence, played it in soo, etc. I dont see any reason for them to lock it like this.


Why would it matter to blizzard if the name isnt your own? how would they know that if the account has just 1 name on it?




Are you SURE you didnt merge any unmerged accounts to this? because getting locked for NO REASON at all and blizzard telling you the names dont match doesnt make sense
