Dupes are a real thing but not like people expect them to work. There is no fancy way of "ohh just wait ill send this item to my alt then click 13 times and use my op laggmacro exactly 7 times... and after im selling it to a vendor and voilá i have 2 Spectral tigers".

Duping for dummies:

Step 1 - Stockpile your shit, and dont think about a stack of temporal crystal or whatever is worthy atm... Think in big so the overall time you spend on the shit will worth it(millions of gold worthy items)

Step 2 - "Hack yourself(use different PC and another IP address... you know the shit)" and quickly sell all the goods on low price - you're a shady account thief now, sell like you just stole it.
Step 2.5 - Also sell the gold, or deposit somewhere you might not lose it. 1st option adviced

Step 3 - Get back to your computer, and be shocked on the new events of your account, write a short ticket for item restoration (including, ohh Dear Mr Blizz GMguy - i found what was the problem... i was a fool to eat this keylogger but now i purged it, im so terribly sad now as i lost so much thingies, two of my favourite unused Feldrakes, i loved to watch them for hours sometimes)

To actually duplicate a GUID of an item is possible but when that happens the item it self will be forcefully removed once the second duplicate item entering the server that you are on. Basically the server WILL NOT ALLOW any duplicate GUID to exist of any item, player, or NPC on the same server at any single moment.

True, the word "dupe" is often used erroneously. A so called "dupe" is rarely being used to describe item duplication nowadays.
