Legitimate Gametime for Gold Coming in 6.1?

We’re exploring the possibility of giving players a way to buy tradable game-time tokens for the purpose of exchanging them in-game with other players for gold. Our current thought on this is that it would give players a way to use their surplus gold to cover some of their subscription cost, while giving players who might have less play time an option for acquiring gold from other players through a legit and secure system. A few other online games offer a similar option, and players have suggested that they’d be interested in seeing something along those lines in WoW. We agree it could be a good fit for the game, and we look forward to any feedback you have as we continue to look into this feature.

If this happens, what effect do you forsee this happening on the existing market for people wanting to buy gametime for gold.

If Blizzard adds a legitimate in-game method, do you think it will collapse, or will sellers have to strive to provide a better price?

Will they continue to do it out-of-game, or move into the in-game market?

ummm for people selling game time for gold at the moment they will deffs have to to have something better then what blizzard will be introducing,

Eg, blizzard 20K for 1 month token, game time seller 17K for 1 month etc.

im curious to know how much gold it will cost and if blizzard will sorta keep it same gold prices which gold sellers are currently selling at.

Maybe your're only aloud to do it X amount of times since alot of people could pretty much afford to play for free since gold is so easy to come by and it will take a massive chunk out of blizzards revenue.

This will be nice as a player , but as a seller i dont have any idea.
Since the gold price is really low at the moment.Thinking that 60d gametime card is around 80k with gold, maybe the market will became more stable.

They wouldn't lose income from this. Other players will still be purchasing the gametime tokens from Blizzard for real money, and in turn they would get an in-game item they could sell to others for gold. Blizzard will still make $15 per month per account in game, all that changes is who is sending the real life currency.

Runescape did this a while ago and from what i remember the gold price has remained about the same since then.


The gold to dollar ratio for the tokens in runescape has always been more expensive than buying from gold sellers apart from a pretty brief period when the tokens first came out.


I can't see this making a huge impact on the gold market although it introduces players to the idea of buying gold for real money who previously wouldn't have considered it.

Did you will risk to get banned or scamed just for a little gold saving? I think people who buy gametime with gold will just buy it from Blizzard and people who buy/sell it illegally will get banned or something.

These tokens will probably be selling for a huge amount of gold for the first few days / weeks.

Simply because people are willing to pay more for safe & secure transactions.

However, with the enormous supply, gold price will probably end up plummeting. Even to something like 10k & less for 30 days.

You can kinda compare it to BoEs. In the sense that they have such a huge value early in an expansion, but end up being worth very little as time goes by.

My thoughts though!

I believe that the fact that blizz sells tokens will balance the price, but because its certain and legit i think it might be something like 50k starting market price (security is expensive)

Also keep in mind a month is 13 EURO standard, and once the sale goes live the prices will drop(i believe they will start at 50k and go down steadily to like 25-30 depending on free market balancing). At one point there will be FAR FAR FAR TOO MUCH BEING SOLD and FAR TOO LESS...Then the fight for buyers will start...ALso item DUPLICATING THE TOKEN wont be possible as it's an item with a code taht can only be used once.
