[2014/01/22 PQR Banwave] Yet another investigation of what has triggered it

    Hey, everyone!
A though just came into my mind: what if all these PQR bans might have been triggered by PQI addon? PQI might be insecure as it sends some messages which could be read by blizzard.
After looking through the sticky ban thread I've noticed that the dominant majority of posters had PQI among their addons. In addition, my friends who were blatantly using PQR for months but never installed this addon were not banned.
As for me, I had this addon in my AddOns folder though it was disabled and, yes, I got 4 accounts banned.

    What do you think?

Please, don't start the flame! I didn't post my thoughts in the sticky thread as they'll instantly drown in the endless flow of "I got banned" posts.

Edit: it turns out that 4 of my accounts were banned. Fourth one wasn't paid since the end of December.

blizz doesnt scan the addon folder

but it can definitely detect PQI use (since it posts to chat channel)

problem is, we got reports of people getting banned who never used or even had PQI

the reason the majority of banned players used pqi... is because the majority of rotations use it. doesnt mean it's the source

I hadn't a reason to use it. I built a few profiles to handle my mundane tasks, but never raided with it, or used it for my rotation.

I have had the PQI addon in my folder but disabled for about a year now aswell. I never managed to get that shit addon to work properly with any routines that required it... Removed it yesterday. Still not banned.
I really don't have anything interesting to put here anymore.

PQR is the bot performing a complex rotation automation; PQI is just an addon that makes it easier to create in-game graphic interface for your profiles.

So people were using this while raiding? To do their rotation for them? Why would someone do this, it's plain boring and no fun IMO..
I'm here for a long time but never heard of PQR.. and I can't understand why people can't execute a ~7 casts rotation by themselves..

People can execute their 7 cast rotation but they are no match for the bot with superhuman reaction time. In fact, this ban wave was caused by pvpers, not by raiders. People were mass complaining about all these badly configured auto interrupts and other tricks that look clearly bot-like. This stuff has become way too widespread.

To be honest I don't understand why are some players angry that they got perma banned when clearly they were doing something that's not allowed. I only wish that Blizz doesn't change its decision and removes perma bans from those accounts, if they do they will prove that they dont care...

The major difference is that other third party programs (for instance farming bots) are generally used on secondary accounts that you don't care much about. By the specific functionality, tools like PQR/PE or other rotation helpers were used by basically anyone (that used them) on the main account. Hurts much more to lose that one I would imagine...

Friend of mine had PQR but never used PQI. He was perma'd. I used PQR with PQI and was perma'd aswell.

Have a question about an exploit I posted or confirmed working? I'll be glad to help! Feel free to PM me!

    Hello,

Sorry for my english i'm french and i'm perma ban for using pqr and pqi.
I want to know what is the name of the processus for PQR ?

When i start to play wow there isn't battlenet account, they had this because there was so many hack. when i create my battlenet account i have accept the conditions there was just one case to accept the conditions
today i create a new battlenet account and there are 3 case to accept the conditions for create an account. the only one i found amazing it's that anti cheating agreement

In an effort to combat the efforts of those individuals who are willing to violate the EULA and/or the TOU, Blizzard Entertainment utilizes an "anti-cheating" utility that runs as part of Blizzard Games. This "anti-cheating" utility performs limited scans of:
"the Windows Process List to determine if any confirmed hacking or cheating programs are presently open in violation of the Blizzard Games Terms of Use"
it's like hacking because they look for the OS it's not the game but our OS. i'd like to know if it's legal
