Is the buyer trying to dispute payment, or is paypal disputing on their own?(Paypal)

I sold a WoW account last night to a guy, he wanted me to request payment from him via paypal. I thought it wasn't a big deal, so I went on my paypal account and sent an email to him requesting payment.

He paid, and this morning I wake up with this,"You have received a payment that we believe may not have been authorized by the PayPal account holder. Here are the details of the transaction we are investigating".
So the payment is now on hold.

My question is, is the guy trying to scam me? Or is paypal being stupid?

The guy is unregistered, which is why he wanted me to request payment from him(you dont need a paypal account to pay if you do that).

Thankfully the guy didnt change the email to the account and I retook it easily and put an authenticator on it.

I've requested payment in the same fashion many times, never had any issues. but it could be possible if he used a stolen PayPal account or credit card, owner of which disputed the payment. Talk to PayPal, be the first one to react and see what's going on. Don't say why you sent the invoice, just poke them and ask about it.

Might be that he used another account or credit card that does not belong to him...

Right now I'm just waiting for him to respond to me on skype. Im gonna try and make him use westernunion, if he won't then I'll continue with paypal dispute.

Is westernunion any safer than paypal? Is it impossible for someone to dispute a payment they sent?

WU is basically like going to a cash point and with drawing the cash, once you have it in your hands thats it.
