Mage conjure bug?

I watched a mage create what seemed like a huge amount of Ink of Dreams without running to the bank, all the while interrupting his own Ink of Dreams casts with conjuring refreshments and mana gems. Is it possible he is creating the inks without using up the pigments by bugging the spell cast somehow?
