The moment a lot of us have waited a long time for confirmation of, Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures will be creating a live-action Warcraft movie. Years ago it was only a rumor that orcs, dragons, humans, and all the other creations of Warcraft would be clashing in epic battles in full surround sound, watching our favorite heroes and most despised enemies grunting, clanking, and battling for victory on a movie screen.. It has recently surfaced that Duncan Jones (director of Source Code, and Moon) will be directing the film, with Thomas Tull and John Jashni producing for Legendary Pictures, while Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, producer) and Alex Gartner producing for Blizzard Entertainment/Atlas Entertainment.
Stuart Fenegan will be the executive producer, with Chris Metzen also leaving his footprint in the movie, co-producing for Blizzard. With a budget of over $100 million (almost triple Duncan’s previous film, Source Code, at $35 million), it should be exciting to see what they incorporate in the universe Warcraft has made millions of fans fond of for over a decade.
With a release target date of 2015, there is much to look forward to and much to speculate on. The script, written by Charles Leavitt, is being kept under wraps by Legendary.
Are you excited to see what all these minds can conjure onto a screen?
How do you feel about the decision to create it as a live-action movie, rather than CGI?
Do you feel the decision of Duncan Jones was the right choice for this film? If no, who would you have liked to see run the show?
What or whom do you think the movie will follow through the story of the Warcraft universe?
Will you be breaking out the green face-paint and foam (of course) battle axe to prepare for the opening night?
