Re: Wrath of The Lich King FAQ

ya death knight looks way over powered its pally+warlock+mage cause it has plate, can summon undead and from wat it looks like in the video it has aoe too so i dont really see how its going to be fair and if they make it so that u can only use 6 spells wen ur in combat(since theres 6 runes) thats going to sucks cause in raids and stuff ull be useless after a while

If this is insinuating that you can choose to abandon the horde/alliance and join up with Arthas, this is amazing. Goodbye, noob alliance guild of mine and hello Lich King!

Re: Wrath of The Lich King FAQ

I can't edit anymore I over loaded it so i'll upload it by doing this

There are concept arts of Dalaran and The Nexus both look pretty cool. The Nexus looks like this huge purple beam of magic shooting towards the sky, with rings surrounding ilooking like islands (magic rings, where the level 80 5 man instance will be)
Metzen says he doesn't want the end of Arthas' story to be predictable, as he says a "Yeah, that's pretty much what I expected" type of feeling.
Metzen feels the Burning Crusade never really had an "ending" moment. Killing Illidan wasn't it because he didn't like the Legion either. So Sunwell will be it
The Blood Elves are trying to reinvigorate the Sunwell using energy ported from Netherstorm (i.e. the Mana Forges), but supposively rebuilding the Sunwell is an excuse to summon Kil'jaeden.
There is that quote that someone posted earlier in the forums that Kil'jaeden is not fully summoned, thus you can kill him with 25 lvl 70s.

    Zones

Dalaran will have one or two instanced dungeons in it (like Stockades or Ragefire they said).
Dalaran won't have Auction Houses or class trainers again (*sigh*). Same reason as with Shattrath. It will probably have portals like Shattrath though, and they said possibly one to Shattrath as well.

    Dungeons

Sunwell area will have "tweaker Blood Elves, high on magic" and 6-8 bosses.
Info about Utgarde: will be similar to Ramparts, but with more memorable moments to break up the "pull-rest-pull-boss" structure of other instances (way they put it). One is a giant flame forge that kills you if you step into it, but if you kill the workers operating it, it dies down. Another is a guantlet area like in Shattered Halls. One boss will be a Lich, another will be a Vrykul who summons scourge minions.
There's a map of Utgarde Keep (low level dungeon).
It mentions the Stratholme CoT dungeon (which isn't new news but it's recent at least).
There will be more "micro dungeons" (i.e. non-instanced dungeon-like areas.. I guess Deatholme is probably a good example). One is called Gjalerbron where the Vrykul are working side-by-side with Liches.

    Classes
    Death Knight

One idea for the Death Knight class is that you'll start in Stratholme and have to break your way out.
Two Death Knight spells mentioned: Army of the Dead (the one from the trailer) which summons a bunch of undead minions, and Death and Decay, which is an AOE spell.
One idea for an ability is Blood Boil, a damage-over-time ability that after the duration lights up two of your blood runes.
Generally Blood runes are damage-oriented, Frost are control-oriented, and Unholy are utility and DOT mechanics.

    Professions
    Inscription

Inscribers will be able to sell scrolls.
Only a handful of core spells can be inscribed. Example they used was you cannot extend the range of the Priest's Mind Vision, but you CAN extend the duration of the Hunter's Freezing Traps.

It seems that Games for Windows will have a few more information concerning Wrath of the Lich King, actually it seems that WoWinsider already got a zone list (including levels) from here. Be careful because nothing is confirmed yet, even if the list look accurate, it could totally be a fake. According to the cover, it will have information concerning new dungeons (but it was probably printed before the GC) and "The Real Burning Crusade ending !", which could mean a Sunwell Plateau preview.

Wrath of the Lich King Zones

    Howling Fjord (68-72)
    Borean Tundra (68-72)
    The Dragonblight (71-75)
    Zul'Drak (73-76)
    Grizzly Hills (74-76)
    Azjol-Nerub (74-7
    Sholazar Basin (75-7
    The Storm Peaks (77-80)
    Icecrown Glacier (77-80)
    Lake Wintergrasp (Outdoor PvP)

Re: Wrath of The Lich King FAQ

Arthas will "use" both alliance and horde players to defeat things that cannot be defeated by his brainless minions, the same way the Lich King used Arthas in the first place.
Death Knight will probably be able to use and inscribe any weapon with runes. (Even if they might add a few Death Knight specific weapons)
Few things about instance we already know, Azjol'Nerub will be a mega-huge underground zone full of spiders, the Nexus will have 3 instances and you will fight Malygos in the last one (lvl 80, 25 players).
They might change old battlegrounds like AV, but they're still not sure if they will be able to do it because of the heavy changes it implies.
Mal'ganis will be the final boss of CoT : Stratholme.

Sunwell Plateau will have 6 bosses in the 25 man raid dungeon, and a 5 people normal and heroic instance.
A "famous character" is trying to re-ignite the sunwell and summons Kil'jaeden back.

    Bornakk(Blizzard)

Anytime you killed Mal’Ganis in the Stratholme level of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, you only succeeded in slowing him down. His body would reform shortly thereafter to continue taunting Arthas and encourage him to take the path of insanity… and power.

No matter what happens to Mal’Ganis in the upcoming Caverns of Time instance, his mission to drive Arthas to Frostmourne will not be undone.

    Barber shop
I think that's the first time they mention changing hair colours too. (Pink haired dwarves ?)

Quote from Blizzard staffNew Hairstyles will be available to any character and are obtained through an ingame barbershop. There is going to be an option to browse new hairstyles & colours, and there may even be earrings and tattoos. There is a great deal more development to be done, but that is where we're looking at the moment

    Tigerole:

CoT : Stratholme and Naxxramas will be here to bring people back to the old continent.
Dustwallow Marsh will fill the lvl 35-45 gap in leveling.
Elite quests will be turned into normal quests in Alterac Mountains and Arathi Highlands.
Northrend will be larger than Outland. Zones will be smaller than the ones in Outland (except for Dragonblight)
There will be a "level up" instance for every level range. (Pretty much like Burning Crusade)
WotLK will have at least two 10 man instance, with possibly a third one in a patch.
They don't plan to upgrade the engine to DirectX 10, they will just add a few improvements every now and then.
Randomization will be added to daily quests to make people feel like they do different quests each day.
Housing is still scheduled, but doesn't fit with the current development of WotLK. We'll have to wait quite some time before getting it.
