Let's have a discussion about gold related bannings

I don't see any other good and recent discussions about Blizzard's banning methods when it comes to trading gold, or 'economic exploitation'. Hopefully we can learn from hearing about the banning methods based on various experiences people have had. If you've been banned for transferring gold or simply being a boss on the auction house, please post about your experience.

These are some general questions I have:

    • Has anyone gotten banned from just sending gold to friends who live nearby?
    • Are bannings more likely when dealing with people in foreign countries?
    • Has your main account ever been banned for trading gold? If so, what was your average weekly playtime and what was your main source of gold income?
    • Has anyone ever been banned for transferring gold between characters on their own account?
    • If you've been banned, how much gold were you transferring? How were you transferring it? How much gold had you transferred in the week prior to the ban?
    • What's the most gold you've transferred without receiving a suspension or a ban? What were the circumstances?
    • Does the account receiving the gold ever get banned? If so, is it less common?

Hopefully knowledge gained in this thread can help us avoid unnecessary bannings.

    1. No, but it may be possible
    2. I would say its less foreign countries and more known IP addresses of gold sellers/farmers
    3. No
    4. That's ridiculous
    5. Never been banned, always use guild bank method for trading.
    6. I did 45k in three 15k trades, most ive ever traded without gbank method.
    7. Id say its just as likely, but it seems the supplier does get banned more often.

If you are looking for information on if you are going to get banned for buying gold, just don't buy an enormously large amount and be sure either find a private seller (which is also usually cheaper) or use a trusted selling website. See World of Warcraft Gold Seller Reviews for more information on websites.
