    A guy scammed me with a CD-Key

    Hello everyone!
    I had an unused CD-Key for World of Warcraft (Vanilla) and I tried to sell it.
    I found a guy, who was ready to pay for it, and I contact him via Skype.

    At first, we were talking about the payment. He says that he wants to send me the money, through eChecks, but I have never done it before, and thats why I told him, that I prefer to send me the money as gift.
    Then, he send me the whole amount, and told me that he was done it. I checked my PayPal account, and the money was there indeed. Then, I gave him the cd-key and he enter it. He confirmed that it is a working one, and that was all.
    After an hour, when I check my mail I found an mail from PayPal, which says that this person refund his money. Then I log into my PayPal account, the money was GONE!

    He was already contact PayPal support, and then I explain them what is going now. I push the Respond and then - I have refunded the payment for this transaction.

    When I tried to send the message, It says that the transaction ID is missing.
    I am entering the transaction ID through the option "Get trainsaction ID" and the pushing the on the deal with this scammer.

    I tried to contact PayPal via e-mail and now I am waiting to answer me.
    What else I am suppose to do?
    What should I write to them?
    Also, after my succesfull contact with PayPal, because first time I choose, "Noone of these match to me" or something like that, I get back this message:

    "The buyer has filed a claim stating this transaction was made without the account holder’s knowledge or consent. Please click Resolve Claim Now to view your options to resolve this issue and how to provide relevant information will help in PayPal’s investigation. We must receive your response by 7 calendar days from case creation in order to include your input in our investigation."

    ...Now I am ready to send back this:
    There should be something wrong with this buyer...
    Of course she knew that she will use this PayPal for this payment.
    I can prove it!

    At first, when we talk about the payment, I asked her "Do you have PayPal" and she said - "Yes I have"

    /quote

    [14.3.2011 г. 17:59:30] ##ME##: no
    [14.3.2011 г. 17:59:34] ##ME##: paypal - gift

    [14.3.2011 г. 18:13:42] ##SCAMMER##: you have sent $405.00 USD to ********.
    /quote end

    And then, when I check my PayPal account, the money was in it!
    Afterthat I gave her the key for what she was payed for:

    /quote
    [14.3.2011 г. 18:18:43] ##ME##: yes we recieve your money
    [14.3.2011 г. 18:49:13] *** Sent EUCDK.jpeg from ##ME## to ##SCAMMER## ***
    [14.3.2011 г. 18:49:19] ##ME##: would you please try this now, thanks
    [14.3.2011 г. 18:51:38] ##SCAMMER##: worked
    /quote end

    And then she said its worked correct!
    All was clear, untill she refund the money, one hour after the deal!

    ~~~~~~
    So what you think? Can I get back my money, and what should I text to PayPal?
    Thanks guys!
    P.S. I am not a CD-Key seller or China farmer...I've just had an unused CD-Key which I bought for gift, but never gift it to the person...
    Hehe, no.
    It was deal only for few dollars, f.e. $4,99
    But it is not all about the money...It is about the honor and clear trading! I have never been reported in PayPal for bad trades or deals. My rating was positive, untill i met this guy.
    If you own the physical printed paper with the key contact Bliz, you'll have to send photocopies and such. You will need to prove ownership, do not tell them you sold it so it puts proof of ownership on him. That account will get banned/closed. Happened to me with someone I knew through work, he claimed it didn't work, I told him if it didn't then he had nothing to worry about. A week or so after the entire account got banned after he applied expansion codes as well. He QQ'd and I just laughed and asked if a $12 cd-key was worth losing an account and $40 in additional keys.
    Sad to say its a lost cause with PP, they are nearly worthless. I've yet to get a single transaction issue worked out through them and have nearly quit using them.
    From prior experience with PP, once the money is refunded to the buyer for any reason you will never get it back. PP customer service is terrible and even if you can prove 100% that you are right they will refuse your requests for the money back. They will not accept screen shots as they can be doctored and they refuse to look at any evidence you may have. They ALWAYS side with the payee. It looks like you got scammed and tbh there is probably nothing at all you can do about it. I would give up on PP and chalk it up as a loss.
    I agree with that Wolv says, you should contact Blizz and tell them that your account was stolen/hacked (DON'T mention anything about selling the key) and as long as you have the original information about the account they should at least ban it and sometimes they will give you full access of the account back (this is rare but I have heard of it happening). The best way to contact Blizz imo is to pretend to be an adult that is concerned with your child's safety because the account got hacked. They will almost always do what is asked if you are calling as 'a parent of a child'. Just make sure that you don't say the child is under the age to play in the terms of service, I'm not sure what the age is off the top of my head. If Blizz refuses to help then sadly you will have to accept this as a loss. In the future you should be much more careful when selling CD keys, PP is NOT a safe way to do this in my experience.
    One other thing that may be relevant - have you tried contacting the said scammer? I know it's a long shot, but it is possible it's an honest mistake. I had something similar to this happen where the person's bank actually retracted the money from PP and the person had no idea about it so it may be worth trying that althought I don't think that's the case here. Good luck!
