Who buys these gold/levelling guides?

I'm sure you've seen ads for "Zygor's Gold Guide" a million times. But have you EVER clicked on those links? Do you know anyone who has?

I ask because I am a veteran WoW player (I remember walking 15 miles to Searing Gorge, uphill both ways) who has recently become involved in a WoW site that plans on monetizing. Not aggressively, mind you, but there will be some ads.

Now, these gold guides are apparently a great way to make some money according to others in the field. When I heard this my jaw dropped. My first words said to my partner were "WHO ACTUALLY BUYS THAT CRAP?!"

According to the numbers, more people than I think.

Zygor's Gold Guide has a high "gravity" rating, which can mean that a lot of people buy it. That number can be skewed a few ways, though, so it's not fact. But it's usually an indication that a lot of people promote it and make sales.

In my years of playing WoW, through several guilds and tons of friends made, I have never even heard of someone actually buying these things. Maybe they buy them and are to ashamed to admit it?

So do you guys know anyone who has paid money for a PDF guide for WoW? I can't wrap my head around this one.

the guides are legit, but you can find them around on the internet for free so i see no point in buying them

same thing goes for buying gold, whats the point if you can get a free bot like lazybot and get it yourself

Maybe new starters, i remember when i first started quite few year ago i used to sit back and think how the hell do people make so much money (long before i found this site) and looked on a few sites that advertised guides, never bought one, no way id pay stupid amount of irl cash for anything i could find with a bit research.

As kenny said most will just search them free off the internet but what you have to remember, not everyone knows how or where to find things free or dont find it right moraly, so just go ahead and buy the guides.

You mostly be selling to those who like everything spoon fed and lazy kids.

I wonder, too, if older people who play buy them. I mean, lazy kids would buy it, but some might not have the money. But what about older people? Like the same people who actually pay for porn? It boggles my mind, but people do, and I think it's the less technically inclined people who don't know that these free resources exist. Maybe. I don't know.
