Am I going to be banned for buying gold? Details inside.. Help greatly appreciated

    Hey there,

I recently bought 8800 Gold on World of Warcraft on a "Full" population server, I did so by buying from offgamers.com which seems to be a pretty reputable site and claims they earn their gold legitly, which I have heard decreases the risk of their buyers being banned.

To be honest, I have no idea why I bought gold, it was such a stupid thing to do and I've now put my 6 year old account(Made it a few days after vanilla's release) at risk.. To be honest I'm worried sick, WoW is something I love as much as going to the pub on weekends with my friends, it's a part of my life. If I lost my account I'd be pretty devastated.

When I bought this gold I actually had it traded(Not mailed) to a character on my SECOND alternate account (which I do not care about, if it gets banned that is fine) and then using two wow clients running on the same computer at the same time traded the 8800g from my second account to my main account. I even faked a conversation between the two characters and made it out as if the second account was returning to wow and paying old debts, Sounds silly but I was so paranoid about getting banned I thought it would help.

I traded the 8800g from a level 2 character on my 2nd account to my main 80 on my main account.

After doing so I went on my 2nd account and deleted the character who received the 8800g from the gold seller and recreated him about ten times with the same name, hoping to wipe any history of him on the server, if it works like that. I did not use any proxies so both accounts are attached to the same I.P address.. stupid of me, I should of used wow tunnels on the 2nd account now that I think back to it.

So that leads me to my question guys, do you think that my main account is going to get banned even after me taking all these precautionary measures? I really don't care if the 2nd account gets banned at all.. if my main account is lost.. I don't know what I'd do

I've never been banned or suspended for gold buying in my entire 6 year period of WoW so that does mean I may get off with a warning or a temporary 7 day ban or something? Even that I can deal with, I just don't want a perma ban. I feel so stupid for buying gold.. so stupid.. I don't know why I did it..

Really appreciate any advice and foresight you guys can give on the issue, thanks heaps for taking the time to read my question.

TL;DR VERSION - Bought 8800g and had it traded to my 2nd account, then traded the gold to my main account on my main 80. Deleted and remade the gold receiving character on the 2nd account to try and throw off server history of the transaction. Would like to know if you think my main account has any chance of being banned and if so, will it be permanent for my first time offense? Really worried.

P.S Is there anything I can do NOW to decrease my risk of being banned? Such as logging in on a wowtunnels proxy on my 2nd account or something.. like does someone know if that will mean the 2nd account only shows that I.P address or will they have a history of it using both my real I.P and the proxy.. anything else I can do?

Damn that is alot of stuff to do just for buying gold.

I have been buying gold on and off for the past 3 years - have never recieved a warning nor ban to any of my 6 accounts (family).

Only reason I can think is that you buy out AH and put the items at stupidly low prices and thus it can cause some attention towards you , Other then that I wouldnt worry to much about it.

I know it's a lot of stuff to do but as I said, WoW is a part of my life and losing this account would be such a blow to me as stupid as that sounds.. I have so many friends I have made on it over the 6 years of playing, people that I wouldn't be able to get in contact with again if my account got banned.. I have something like 200 days played on my main character to give you an idea of just how much time I have spent on this one account..

I wish I could take it back >_< Bah I could of just done 1 GDKP run and got the same amount of gold that I bought without the risk of being banned.. I really hope if something gets banned it's only my 2nd account.. It's driving me mad, the constant thought that all that work, all my friends on WoW, my WoW identity, it could all just be gone in a instant because of a stupid mistake I have made..

Is there like a certain amount of time after the transaction that I can be sure I have gotten away with it? Like a month or two later if I have heard nothing on the issue and received no bans it should mean I'm fine... right?

Once again thanks very much for reading my long post and replying guys

if anything you just made yourself look 100 times more suspicious with all that low char trading and deleting/remaking. would most likly have been safer to have the gold traded to one of your 80s on either account and traded it once.

Well what I was hoping for is that even if they find out, only the second account would be banned. All the safe gold buying guides I read prior to making the purchase REALLY emphasized the use of a second account to protect your main account from being banned.

ban chance for buying gold is very low, I've bought well over 100kg overall and have never received a ban or warning, and what I did was make level 1 alt get gold then mail to main. You're safe imo, and you could always get your acc unbanned if it is banned.

How exactly would I go about getting my account unbanned? Just deny I ever bought gold and just pretend my second account which received the gold from the seller was just my friend paying back a debt? And even though everyone keeps saying the ban chance is very low, I'm still very worried.. I just hate having this constant, lingering feeling 100% of the time that my WoW account could be banned without any warning at all out of the blue.. The only time I think I will stop worrying about this is when you guys really reassure me or it's like 2 months later (Which hopefully means they didn't get me.. or do they get people even after months have passed?)

And do you think for the first offense I would be warned, temporarily suspended or permanently banned?

Even if they stripped my main of all his gear and 310% flying (What I spent 5k of the gold on), along with the rest of the cash, I wouldn't care.. I just don't want to lose the account or my main guy..

I do believe that buying gold warrents you a warning - > 72 hour ban - > perma or a removal of all gold attained - It really depends on the person reviewing your account to be honest.

Well I really hope if they do catch me it's only a 72 hour ban.. is there any evidence of people being perma banned without warning after buying gold only once?

I guess that is always an option but yeah.. I'd really rather not shell out all that extra cash unless I REALLY have too.. sadly I think it would be too late if I wanted to do that because I would only do it if I was sure I was going to get banned.. but yeah still really interested in if any of you know how long after the transaction I should feel "safe" and can be sure I won't be caught.

Thanks heaps for all the replies guys.. any legit reassurance you can give me is great help

Odds of getting caught are very slim.

If you do get caught you get a 3 day ban, nothing to worry about.

You would've been safer if you just received the gold directly from them, makes it less suspicious. Stop worrying, worst thing that can happen is that you lose the bought gold and get a 72h ban. I've had over 10 short-time bans and still no perm, you should stop worrying.

That makes me feel much better

Just the kind of reassurance I was looking for guys, thanks very much

Just one more tiny question and I'll let the thread wither and die, but can GMs see what I actually spent the bought gold on and remove the 310% flying from me or would they only be able to remove the gold I have left? Any point in trying to spend it?

    Thanks
