RaF Mount, Not pay

Might sound kind of petty but on our server the gold farmers are selling the recruit a friend mount for 10k. I've got plenty of gold to cover it if I really wanted to pay but since it is against ToS to pay gold for in game items, what if I got the mount up front and just never paid?

Scam the gold farmers. They aren't really losing much seeing as they make them anyway but it wouldn't be against ToS because I didn't pay anything.

Thoughts?

why would you do this? People have to pay real money to get that mount, and you would actually stiff someone for paying RL money to get you this mount? In game currency is one thing, but RL is a whole different story. You may be paying gold only yourself, but that "china farmer" is spending real cash to get it. Correct me if I am wrong as well, but isn't it against the rules to post scams like this? I thought only ways to prevent yourself from being scammed were allowed. I never really browse the section myself, so I could be totally wrong but I thought that was what was expected.

ANY WAY. You are just a douche if you try to pull stunts like this. It really is not different then robbing someone on the street really. But do what you want, Karma can be a bitch though I hear =O

Last I checked it's NOT against the ToS to spend in-game currency for in-game items. No one ever got banned for selling a code from the TCG for gold.

I can honestly say this statement is true. I asked a GM previously when someone tried to dupe me on a tiger mount. It was fairly cheap, so i expected to get cheated lol but I took the chance just in case. Either way, got my gold back, guy got some kind of ban (probably 3 days or so). But a GM told me personally it is not against the TOS to sell loot card items for gold. Since neither party is making an IRL profit on it, they see it no different then selling a BOE epic. That being said, this is the very reason loot card mounts are now BOE and can be sold or used .

I'm just going to ignore your comments Coldman, seeing as I've seen WAY worse scams that include account theft on these great forums. Stop putting yourself on such a pedestal. I'm not sure that scamming a gold selling company that is participating in actions against Blizzards ToS is such a bad thing. If I can make the spammers pay a little bit, I say it's a good thing. Have you considered the fact that some of these "outstanding citizens" use stolen credit cards to purchase these and scam people out of their gold (charges being reversed and losing the gametime/mount)?

And last I checked, you are wrong and it is against ToS...

lol Where do I put myself so high up on the pedestal? I am just telling you like it is. Yes, some gold hungry companies do use stolen accounts etc.. to get what they want/need to sell their product, but ever remember the saying 2 wrongs don't make a right? That is what you would use for this situation. Unless you could provide absolute proof they stole another persons money to get the RAF mount to supply to a customer, you really can't say they do that. And that blue post was made today? Unless I am reading where it says it was posted wrong, but it says 11/21 for me. Either way, I guess they changed their stance on this so whatever I know a GM told me before the mount and pets came into the blizz store it was alright to do the transactions. Also to comment on seeing worse scams posted on here, did you read the posts? I am pretty positive they are telling you how to avoid getting caught in them. I will just end with if you think/believe/know the gold seller you see spamming is using illegal means to get the mounts, then ignore them and move on, report their spam to blizzard with just right clicking their name and reporting it and let blizzard take care of it.

Edit 2: I noticed the date next to the title of the post changes if i refresh the page (the time at least, so i guess it just tells your local date/time). But I see where the posted date is now, it was on 4/20 around the time the celestial steed came around. So they had a stance change on it since I last talked to a GM (granted a lot of GM's will give you different views on a lot of the TOS).
