Need to learn not to be a baddie keyboard turner..

BEFORE I POST::: I am not a bad player, I've simply played a priest since vanilla and never have had to use key bindings.. (Always used Grid, Vuhdo, or some other healing/raid frame add on) My priest has LoD, and I'm in the top raiding guild on my server, lol.

As you can see, I am a clicker, and a keyboard turner. Everything I have to do in-game is all inside of my raid frames, all of my heals, my engi gloves, PI, everything. So I've always used my keyboard to turn, and I click on certain cooldowns on my action bars.

The issue I'm having now is that after all of these years I am switching my main from priest to rogue. This is obviously an issue for me. I can either; one) continue to be a keyboard turner, pretty much limiting my abilities as a player, and definitely ruins PvP for a melee class, or two) learn to effectively use my mouse to turn and use efficient keybindings!

What I'm asking for is preferably some good rogues to post some pics or some good links to their UI/actionbars/keybindings. Also some tips on switching from keyboard turning to not. I know to some of you it may sound stupid, and/easy to switch, but I've been doing this for almost 5 years and it is VERY ground in.

You don't need a UI or key binds to be effective without using keyboard turns, simply set up your moves on your action bars to a comfortable spot to rest your fingers on, then hold your right mouse button to turn and to move forward just hold down the left button while holding the right button. Most effective way to move around that is easy to get used to imo.

Okay so holding down both mouse buttons would be the right way to move foward? Is strafing still okay?

well you could hold right mouse button and A or D to strafe while still being able to keep your hand on most of your moves if you desire to strafe instead of turn quickly go forward and turn back with a easy mouse swing

This sounds pretty easy, but the keybinds I think will be my biggest issue. Rogues dont have the MOST abilities, but they do have more than I'd need on my priest.

Sinister strike/mutilate can go on 1 or 2 but then what about stealth? vanish, blind, kidney shot, evasion, everything.. What are the most common used keybindings? just the numbers? I plan on trying to do some arena with my rogue in cata, and I want to go ahead and learn how to be a GOOD player with keybindings. Keyboard turning in arena doesn't work with melee classes =P =P

I personally always used a combination of both but I found myself using keyboard turning in pvp while I played my rogue as well as my ranged classes I'm not sure why it was easier to sneak around people while doing that instead of relying on my mouse. I actually had a hard time switching over to using my keyboard for my rogue but I was doing a lot better after I did

Well you can key bind stealth to whatever you like and then set your stealth moves in a comfortable hand position as well so when you switch the transition isn't too hard to do what you want

I think I'm going to try and work with shift+___ combinations. This weekend is AB weekend so I'll have plenty of practice I guess =/

lol I completely forgot wow had turning keys. I always replace them with the strafe ones, after a shrot while you get used to not having them.. xD

My rogue has so many hotkeys, q, e, r, t, f, g, z, x, c, v, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, soem shift + ones..
Only makes it more tough being an engi with extra cooldowns on bombs, rcoket boots and glvoes, blah blah.

Don't have a Ui =\. To soudn odd, hah. Completely barless, everything is hotkey'd or mousebound. So, it'd be pointless, I'll see what I can do in the morning after a sleep, I have an older ui I used to use that should have bars and keybindings and whatnot like a normal player lol

Here is the SS you've asked.

The "n/d" are abilities that i rarely use, so i just click whenever i need, which is almost never.

The "Click" on the bottom far right icon is my bags macro, then i also click on "Distract" and "Will of the Forsaken".

The "mX" are my mouse buttons, the "m3" is wheel press (SnD).

Stealth is on "\" which on a portuguese layout keyboard is the key on the left of "1", if you use US layout, its probably on "~".

"F" and "m8" are my ToT macros, the "F" to tot the tank, and "m8" to tot my Focus.

To Run, depending on what im doing, i use the normal WASD with QE to straf, when fighting i use mouse 1 and 2 pressed.
Sometimes it can get tricky if you'r running arround with m1 and m2 pressed, you may end up with your back to the target, which isnt good, so, when changing direction, you may compesate it, by straffing with Q or E, at the same time you m1+m2, which will leave you with free fingers to keep attacking if you'r circling the target.

I think this should help you to setup your interface, but this is how i feel confortable, many players have everything completely different.

Ofc m8, hahaha, yes it does come in different colors, any color you want, you can change!

Here is the list of what i'm using, dont mind that Sexymap, not using it.

But what you'r really interested is in Lui UI Pack, it already comes with many addons but not all of those, and i also replace some of Lui's like the Stuffing for ArkInventory, and the Buff one cant remember which one is.

There are a few places where you can get this pack, but i would recomend the official website since its safe to install, it gets constant updates, there's a forum ,with tweaks and help if you wanna do something thats not Stock, etc.

The official UI website is www.wow-lui.com (i think there's no problem in posting this external link, since it's the only place where you get the updates and its safe to use, cuz i've searched in google and found 1 exact copy of the website but with different address, a few things not working, so i'm not sure if it would be safe).

First install the Lui Pack then add some of my list if you want, you'll notice that mine is abite different configured from the Stock Lui so, get creative with the options, since you can configure every single bar/panel/color/size/shape. :P
