Cross-server Arbitrage? How do you make gold by server transferring?

I'm going to be server and faction transferring a character sometime soon, and would like to make a little gold in the process.

Are there any guidelines I should be following? Any specific items I should be looking out for?

Should I be using Auctioneer? I know Auctioneer has an Arbitrage function, but I'm not sure how to configure it to work with two different servers.

Background info: The server I'm going to be transferring from is a high population PvP server (Illidan-Horde), and I'm transferring to a medium population PvE server (Greymane-Alliance). I will be doing the server transfer first (even if I might be able to make more gold the other way around, I'm not willing to play as Alliance Illidan for any length of time at all).

First thing you should check is price of batered hilts on both servers, it can easily be 1-5k less on your server, and by buying some of those and than selling, you can make 1-5k gold per one.

You can buy some of the rare-ish alliance pets and sell them when you get to your new horde-side server for much more. Check the prices on both beforehand.


And that's really the best advice I can give you. Check the prices of semi-expensive items on both servers and buy whatever has the largest profit margin per gold spent ratio.
