    Choppy FPS Upon Panning Around?

Hello MMOwned, I was hoping someone could help me,

Recently I've been playing a private server, in which everything runs fine. But whenever I play retail WoW, and I use the mouse keys to pan around, my FPS becomes extremely choppy.

This ONLY happens on retail Wow, and ONLY when I pan around with the mouse keys, otherwise my FPS is fine.

I've tried many things yet I still can't fix it, and it's very annoying indeed.

I was hoping someone here would know how to fix it, +Rep to whoever helps of course.

    Thanks

    Hi there

First of all, it's usefull to explain that retail usually has many more players in the capital cities, than a private server does. So panning will cause more models to load, and this can cause some lagg in certain cases. Also, have you tried disabling all your addons and see if it still happens? If it doesn't, enable your addons one by one and test. If it happens again, you know which addon is to blame!

Well, that's all I can guess of! Best of luck and regards ^.^

I thought it may be because of population of players, so I moved away and tried it in the middle of nowhere, and also tried in Hellfire Peninsular where all that was around was a few hellboars. I have disabled all my addons and I still get the choppy rates when I pan, really hard to pvp with, and fight in general, and I usually walk with my mouse keys too =\

No I haven't tried updating any drivers :S I'm pretty certain that the pvt server is on the same version as retail.

Insufficient RAM could also be a cause.

Considering that Vista and Win 7 both use 1gb of RAM, if WoW needs 2 to run smoothly, you'll have a problem.

Also possible that your bandwidth is being throttled too much and you can't stream the needed data. Unlikely though as WoW can easily be played on a 54k modem.

Choppiness 90% of the time means your game can't load the needed data fast enough off the HDD or off the RAM, which means you either need a faster hard drive or more RAM. Not sure why it wouldn't happen on a private server though.
