Thermaplugg's Central Core - Affected by spellpower?

Are there any people who have done testing with this? If you get a 3000 spell power shaman (or warrior, or pally... I guess...) that means you have a chance on getting hit to deal 3000+ damage that isn't affected by spell power. I don't have a shaman, so I can't, otherwise I would.

    Thanks for the help.

General rule of thumb; if it's old and plausible, someone has tried it.
Checked wowhead for comments, nothing there.

3000 sp does not equate to 3000+ damage. it does proc a spell, so it should have an equation to factor in sp, but it might cap. Or, it might not have an equation because its an old and low lvl item. Idk

This even more so considering Blizzard's already interfered with the way a similar shield ( Skullflame Shield ) worked with spellpower and hit it with the nerf bat.

Exactly - my question is, what if it does? It becomes *drum roll* a novelty item! Or a good whelp tanking shield (wait... thats actually plausible)! Either way, if it works the way I think it does it'll turn into a fun item.
