I am sorry to bother you from your regulary scheduled Cataclysmic events to ask you this simple question, from this lowly user.

I need to buy a Laptop to play World of Warcraft on when I go to college.

I would like to keep it under a thousand dollars.

I do not multi-box.

Does anybody have any recommendations?

So true, the laptop im running wow on atm is only 1G of ram and the graphiucs aint exactly brill, 1G of memory would be fine if your not playing Wotlk, but when i installed Wotlk i got error cuz of low Ram, it still installs but lags in crowded places.

IMO get atleast 2GRam as for graphic cards, i dunno lol, i heard gaming laptop are pricey tho.

I have a Toshiba Satellite with a Pentium Dualcore T3200 with 2x 2 GHz. 4GB Ram installed and sold with WinVista (32) but I have Win 7 Ultimate installed. And I can play WoW very good. Maybe not on the highest details, but with good details.

That cost me £1200 when it came out about a year ago, there are better Toshiba Qosmio X series out now.

I just bought this one:

Its well under your $1000 price range, and handles WoW very well. With about mid-to-high graphics settings, I'm usually able to get 120-140 FPS in Stormwind. With 64-bit OS, 4 GB RAM, 500GB HDD, you should be pretty well off for scholarly things too. :P

Honestly under a Thousand wont get you a stellar laptop for gaming. Most laptops under that price dont have a dedicated graphics card, and the Integrated chipset is usually pathetic. You could still play WoW, but its graphics would be sub-par and its framrate would probably lag more than a desktop.

A gaming laptop usually runs 1.5k+. But if you can go with bare minimums then im sure most laptops nowadays could run WoW. Mines an Inspiron 1525 with no graphics card, 3gb RAM and a Core 2 Duo and it can run WoW okay. It was a 1.1k laptop though. Though im running Vista so the preformance gets eaten up by a crappy OS.

If you keep it running XP a laptop of below 1000 should be able to cut it to play WoW, just not the best.
