Buying gold safely?

I just found this site the other day (Where have you been all my life) and have been amazed at the amount of information available. I've spent the past 2 days pouring through post after post.

In one of them I saw someone saying you should use the AH to transfer gold and I'm curious to why. I'm also curious if anyone has been banned for buying gold, it's my understanding that Blizzard only really prosecutes the sellers, not people who buy.

I currently have a dummy account setup that I fund with game cards, it has no real information in it. Any time I buy gold, it gets sent here (my friends also use this account). I used to use the AH to transfer the gold to my main account, however the chunk they take out gets to be too much (Just bought 5500 gold, didn't want the AH taking out a huge chunk).

I've done other things such as Trading while I dual box, or even COD mails. I also delete the toon when I'm done.

Is there anything else I should be doing to make this safer? Anything I'm doing thats just overkill?

Yes, but in very rare cases. my friend got banned when buying 3k and my other friend bought 2k but blizzard deleted it. it all depends on the gm i guess. and never and i mean NEVER trade. the two safest possible is AH, and spamming in trade channel "QUITTING WOW FREE GOLD!!!" so you give like 10 people 1g and then give alts more and more not the whole package. hope this help
