He accepted the gold. Most people would not accept the gold in this case. And Especially after it happened once would no fall for it again.

Not sure if this is a scam (can't post in that section anyway), definitely not defined as an exploit so it won't go there. Move it somewhere else if it helps to do so. However this is definitely an odd and reproducible thing.
Simply put: A friend of mine was bored and bought one of his not-friends on the server gold from a gold-selling site. He waited for the delivery time to be completed and reported to a GM that the target gloated about buying gold. The target was given a temp ban for exploiting the economy.
Two days after the first ban fell off, the same process was followed. The target was then given a longer temporary ban for exploiting the economy.
Give it another three days after the ban wears off, repeat, and the account was closed.
The target never did anything, however it looked like he bought gold three times (somebody else bought it for him) so he lost his account.
All three charges were contested by the buyer and he got his money back. Had he not, it would have been effectively $30 to ban the other person. Paying for a ban? Huh.
Wierd my post went above yours ><
This is not reliable at all for exactly the reason described. Very rarely does anyone get banned for BUYING gold, and if they do, they can usually get it reversed by saying it wasn't them who bought it.
If getting some jackass banned were as easy as buying them $5 worth of gold from www.superkoreafarmeromfglegit.com, I'd be banning people left and right.
