How to shorten looong flights?

After waiting and waiting and waiting for flights from one end of the continent to the other, I'm wondering if some kind soul would let me in on the secret to instant flights please? I've seen two videos on Google: one uses an Alliance friend to throw a snowball at you just as you take off and that puts you at your destination, the other one seems to be a Horde using a hack that causes the screen to pause and then a spell effect which puts you at your destination.

Are these fakes? Or do they require some weird hacking tool that will get you banned? Or is there really an easy way to shortent those long dang flights after all?? If not, at least it gives me time to take a bathroom break...

the second is teleporting (this will get you banned asap)

i mostly just speedhack now. Its faster than most flight paths.

Thanks for the fast reply and info, appreciate it! I suppose, like any new forum member, I should have used the Search function prior to posting, but, hey, I don't even read the instructions that come with stuff, so.....

I wonder why Blizz are being jerks about people getting to their destinations faster? Waiting four minutes just to get to a destination that takes such a freakin twisty route does NOTHING to enhance gameplay, it only frustrates the players who have a NEED to get to another place to finish a QUEST that is much more important than POSSIBLY discovering a new area to explore (only to find out that you can't get there unless you jump up a mountain crack for a hour!)

I am one of those PVE players that such in the BG's and only recently "discovered" plugins like CT_mod (way awesome, BTW!) So I would never consider using a bot or a memory hack, but I find nothing wrong in climbing cracks or using spells in innovative ways, and I think that is part of the game experience which Blizz needs to just accept instead of being such buttheads about it (can I say Butt on the air?)

Well they make it like that to make the gamer fair to everyone (wouldnt be fair if you had instant travel and no one else did eh?)

But wow has one of the best travel systems around. you can anywhere within 15 minutes pretty much. On EVE Online it can take up to an hour to get somewhere.

I hate flight paths. From Org to silithus, you need to go down to the barrens, fly over cross roads, fly over Camp T, fly over 1k needles, go to Feralas, then finally your in silithus.

It cant be Org to Silithus..

Then I guess my next logical question is regarding "speed hacks"...how do you do JUST a speed hack and nothing else? I really do not want ot get banned, and I hear that the 1.12 patch has caught a ton more people, some are even innocent but Blizz don't care...

I assume this is a client-side memory edit that somehow doesn't get caught by the server? That simply means bad programming because (as a 25-year coder) Blizz could easily have put a test on the server-side code for movement updates that says that if the current position is over X more than the last known position then the current position is X/2 (or some other much smaller increment based on what the current client is using for travel).

Basically (get the pun?) : IF X>N THEN X=N: GOTO 100

Which would then get sent back to the client on the next transmission of data packets, thus updating the client screen and making you visually "jump" back to where you should have been without using a speed hack. A similar thing is done in the Quake engine code (now THOSE boyz are masters at network coding!)

When I first got the game almost a year ago I had problems getting it to communicate through my home network. Blizz support was helpless, so I used Ethereal to sniff the packets while the game was running to see what the authentication method used...and I posted that on the Blizz support forums (do a search for "mushu"). Well, predictably, Blizz had a cow that I was using a "hacking tool" to see what the game was doing! I argued back with them that their support couldn't help me so I figured out what the problem was and fixed it myself, thus saving them a customer. I spoke to account reps and finally a manager. My age and knowledge and calm determination won out, and they even reset my free three month usage credit! LOL

I haven't tried Ethereal lately so I wonder if it has been added to the blacklist. No biggie, rename the executable AS WELL AS the "internal" program name and their warden thing won't have a clue.

And, yes, I have kids so just about every Disney cartoon ever made have been memorized by me a loooong time ago. :)
