I was called to transfer an elderly man to a larger city hospital to see a urologist, I was told there was special considerations with this patient. On my arrival to the hospital, I was told the patient had a penis infection and I should look at it. The nurse pulled down adult diaper to reveal what I could only assess quickly as a blood and puss infected portion of flesh. Upon arrival to the hospital The triage nurse couldn't wrap her head around my patients presenting problem of a " penis infection" Asking me three times over what the patient's problem was. Finally after a few hours of me badgering the nurse for the patient to be seen, telling her that he couldn't pee, and needed a urinary catheter because he had an IV running and his bladder was likely at the point of exploding. Finally the urologist arrived a black man, we stay to help as they are short staff in most hospitals. The Dr pulled down the adult diaper, got white as a sheet and said to the patient "When did you notice you didn't have a penis?" (said in African accent) So my partner who hadn't been on a lot of calls and was supportively holding this patient's hand thru the pain of the examination, not wearing gloves...keep this in mind for the last part of my story. The Dr held the stump of the mans penis with long tube to insert in the the mans urethra. The remaining stump was swelled up to the diameter of a softball, looked up at me and asked "where do I put it?" I'm like "umm you're the urologist?" So he begins to insert the long tube in thru the bloody, pus filled flesh, areas of dark flesh that you can tell is dead is all around the outer edge. The tube seems to go in about 6 inches when it pops up on the other side of the stump, pulling a chuck of rotted penis off. The Dr. stands back and goes, I will be right back. Gets on the phone, says he has a patient to admit with penile cancer. So my do our wait, and we left the hospital, my partner is driving, going on about how she had never seen anything like that, chewing on her nails. I'm sitting there about to gag. See the reason this old man had gone to the hospital is that he hadn't doctored in about 10 years, I guess didn't want to deal with the embarrassment of showing his "parts" to a Dr. So he went to the bathroom that day, took a hold of his penis and it fell off, causing massive bleeding. So here is my partner who never washed her hands after holding the guys hand, putting her hand in her mouth and the last thing that guy held on to was a rotten penis. I couldnt say I world .

That chick's partner wasn't very smart. Working in that environment you should be trained to wear gloves and wash your hands constantly. Not only for your own health and safety but also for anybody elses. That's incredibly dangerous and I doubt it would be procedure to not wear protection (on anything, especially hands).

Poor old dude though. Honestly though. What's worse, about 30 minutes of embarrassment to get a checkup for your penis or waking up in the morning, having it fall off and then having to go to the Hospital and have someone look at it anyway. Not something hard to answer.

I feel really bad too cause every time I read "penis fell off" I snicker... bad I know but I have an INCREDIBLY bad mind...

uuuh this reminds me to that guy who had a motorcycle accident and lost his penis.

he had like 8operations and non could restore the penis to full potential. hes was in german news every now and then for like 2 yours after he finaly shot himself because he didnt felt like a man anymore.
thats really sad...
