Not to sure if this has been posted or found yet, but i got bored on a live 2.1.3 realm and decided to find out if i could get to the unmapped area of burning steppes!

Hmh, isn't that path just too obvious to reach an unreachable place? Lame Blizzard..
This unreachable area can also be reached by A: Under Stormwind and heading north, B: Dun Morough [You better get a 300% mount that's not ingame to help..]

No you actually can, its just very hard, i did it following a thin strip of mountains near the cost of westfall, but nice guide, easier if you go the dun morough way, although i dont know what the good dragon said by you need a 300% mount

you can go there through dun morogh if you get up in the mountains where the road forks into two paths on your way to loch modan.
