Ahenvale unknown zone and failed instance portal

Hello, I have been around Ownedcore for a long time, but never really posted or made contributions. Anyway, while riding my goblin glider off Nordrassil with a friend using travel form, we landed on a cliff in Ashenvale. On the cliff, we moved a bit and noticed for both of us it said "Transfer Aborted: Instance not Found." We would also leave general and local defense, and be listed on the friends list as in an Unknown zone. We stayed for awhile, and it would continually attempt to transfer us to an instance. When it would happen, we could see the other person faze out and back in.



This probably isn't too big a thing, but maybe it could lead to some discoveries.

I'd have to say that this has something to do with Cross Realm Zones. Otherwise, I don't know.

"Transfer Aborted: Instance not Found." has been used for instant rez in battlegrounds before. I recommend queing up for a battleground there, and try leaving to see if it will port you, or give you "Transfer Aborted: Instance not Found." and resurrect you in the BG.

Oh yea I forgot to mention, my friend queued or a bg there. He came out and instanty d/cd, then d/cd again. When he logged in a third time, he was just standing on the spot.

I remember this happening a lot when cross realms were implemented in. I would get it all the time when switching zones, but I thought they fixed it. Maybe not even part of cross realms, so I dunno lol.

Yeah this seems to happen quite a lot around Ashenvale and Felwood for some reason since CRZ was implemented - to the point where it actually prevented me from questing in Felwood by phasing out all npcs and mobs until I relogged.

Perhaps this could be used for exploration in some way, but it appears too unreliable and unpredictable an occurrence to be of much help. Still, could be worth a shot if you see it happening a lot again.

@ VotuUS Oh ye I remember that.. Sounds interesting. I doubt that there is a comparable way to replicate the bg ress glitch as we know it from 3.3 in 5.x. I've done some research on it. I tried lots of stuff with in the worgen starting area (which is in a way comparable to the old av zone in bwl) but - as it seems - the mechanics have changed. Actually there is a place with /1 alterac in the latest patch but it won't let you replicate the bg ress glitch. I'm not sure if this area has been published yet. I'm not up to date. Please tell me if so.

What exactly is possible to do with this? I dont get it.
