[Teaser] Across the Horizon

Hello everyone !

I am proud to show you the teaser of the movie of the French explorers community (the Royal IdP Essploring Foundation), Across the Horizon.
Filmed by the members of the RidPEF and edited by Zhao (known for Dark Side of WotLK and Point of View), this movie will be the first dedicated to this community, created 5 years ago.

Across The Horizon is an exploration movie entirely created by the Royal IdP Essploring Fundation (RIdPEF).

The RIdPEF is the oldest exploration community still alive. More than 5 years after its creation, this project is the first film that is totally dedicated to it.
This movie, just like the teaser, will contain exclusively « Cataclysmic » content, and each exploration shown has been performed on official Blizzard servers, without the use of third party programs.

For me, this movie is also a parting gesture: I stopped playing World of Warcraft a year ago. I followed the evolution of Cataclysm during the alpha and beta stages, but didn’t purchase the expansion pack. All the content of the video will therefore have been filmed by other members of the RIdPEF; I will only have taken care of the editing and coordination.

This will be my last video, and I shall strive to put all of my heart behind this project, so as to make it my best thus far.

Release is scheduled for late summer (2011)

Lastly, I have a message for the explorers of this world:

Well, knowing Zhao (I assume you are Nyarly ), there won't be any "how-to".

Only "cataclysmic" explorations will be shown, and you may see some parts of Developpement

But what is so amazing with exploring areas in World of Warcraft?

I'll tell you what is amazing... people that come into a World of Warcraft Exploration forum and ask this sort of question! Troll much? But I'll bite...

When programmers make a game, they're bound to leave holes... walls you're not supposed to get behind... blank spots they forgot to program... even whole zones tucked away.

So this is what we find amazing... looking behind the curtain...reaching these areas, seeing these things. Simple as that.


*edit: +rep to the OP. Looking forward to the video. I saw scenes I didn't recognize toward the end of the trailer... I assume these are from Development... so curious to get a glimpse...

We don't want to see pathways nerfed, so we don't show how to get to some places.

Moreover, we think that doing things by yourself instead of following a "how-to tutorial" is more rewarding that following a tutorial, and that you have to "deserve" to see things. We have always worked like that

Will a ready-to-use MPQ of Development be publically released after the release of this movie?

No, and if such a thing is ever released, then it will not be by anyone from our community, or from MoD.
It is against our (RiDPEF's and MoD's, as he himself said) principles.

if you really believed it, you wouldnt release a video of the areas.
