This video shows you where to jump to reach the top of the escape ship approximately 2 minutes before the gauntlet is completed.

To bypass the gauntlet, simply walk past the spot where the icicle will spawn a little faster and continue all the way until you reach the terrace.

Note that this is not an exploit to skip the gauntlet event as it will probably not work.
