[Stormwind] Weird boxes around the blocked portal

The boxes can be found from retail floating around the blocked tunnel (blue
    portal) in Stormwind.

Interesting find. Makes me wonder how many simple things aren't known about yet.

    Can you target them?
Can you track them?(like the undead beetles in the Argent Tournament)
What hack/cheat are you using to get that vantage point?
Possibly some sort of script like the <GM> visible only Infernals outside of AQ?

I see this in every single thing you post. Why not just post what you know after searching?

Here's me thinking I had seen everything, it kinda looks like a texture that would go on an inn/house but 4 of them stuck together to make a box.

I'm guessing Xel is using the Machinima Tool to look at this stuff (as he did with the instanced Gilneas topic). The tool basically allows you to go anywhere (in a sort of "spectator" mode), usually used for shooting footage.. usually. It's a good way to explore things without actually exploring them with your character (when you use the tool, your character stays at it's place).

Edit: That box seems to be some sort of shader test or scale test or something like that (atleast, IMO it seems to do something with scale).

I've seen those before in WoW Model Viewer, under the name of "Lightbox" or something like that.
They're not just in that specific bit, if you go under SW and run around looking upwards, you'll see them in various parts of the city.
    I don't know what's in them...
I bet they are boxes full of chocolate
I pray that this is true
under the name of "Lightbox" or something like that
I don't remember the exact name, I came across these boxes when I was making Brightwynd Pass, looking for something to swap those big ugly rocks for, chose the boxes cos they were called "Light-something" and I thought they'd be invisible or too small to see and then I might not have to change the skybox cos they'd be bright :P
    I failed at that.

If u look at the far right on the first image there's another of the same "box" leads me to believe the object has no special connection with the portal.
