Indeed. Once you have completed the Sholazar basin questline (the name eludes me - sorry), you can use the gate to transport between Sholazar Basin and Un'goro crater freely.

Still though, unless you're stuck in Silithus, Un'goro or Tanaris, it's not really 'quick'.

Damn, I must have tried for about 5 minutes to get back up that way. I didn't realize you have to stop mid-jump, and jump again. Hurf durf +rep.

I used that place to farm lvl78 mobs at lvl70 when wotlk wasnt released, when the 3.0 patch came. Killed them with my warlock friend and looted wotlk loots; frostweave, greens, potions etc

One way this could be useful is if you take the CoT portal from Dalaran for whatever reason (like to buy Noggenfoggers). After a short FP from Gadget you can take this portal and then fly back to Dal. Easily <10 minute round trip, saves you a hearth if you need to.
