Potential Infinite Gold - Rather slow
Hi everyone,
First post here, since I just discovered an exploit I have never read anywhere.
There are 3 NPCs outside Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) who offer the three-part weapon-cloak-ring set quests for each class.
- Warden Haro offers the weapon. Worth around 7G.
- Keyl Swiftclaw offers the back. Worth around 3G.
- Windcaller Yessendra offers the ring. Worth around 2G.
Now, the exploit is that after you complete the quest you can easily sell the items for its worth on your yak or mammoth for example. And then, instead of the quest being repeatable, they offer a conversation option "I lost my - " or something like that, which instantly puts the item into your inventory again, then you can sell it again.
TLDR:
1 Do quest.
2 Sell item.
3 Ask for a new one.
4 Repeat 2-3 infinte times.
5 Profit.
Hope it helps.
I'm pretty sure you can automate your mouse with external software so it does this while you work and stuff. Might be worth it that way.

Nice find if this works. I'm sure everyone will be banned for using it but it's funny such an easy way to make infinite gold exists.

It is "infinite gold" in the same way that farming murlocs for bronze coins is "infinite". Because a dupe exists does not mean it is worth that much: most are not.
Posting this makes it wortheless unfortunately. Unless you have a really good setup you will make 2-3K an hour doing this. A bit more if you can somehow get to exalted - which you won't before this is fixed. It is really just easier to do regular farms/professions/flipping. Unless of course you could mass-automate it over time and stay under the radar...which you can't now.

Way to jump to conclusions. Refrain from posting if that's all you have to say.
Good exploit if this works, should be fixed soon though and you will most likely get banned if you abuse this as each time you sell/buy something, it's logged.

I have a good reason to jump to conclusions

This exploit was recently discovered by an ownedcore member. That member trusted me and others in the exploit community in good faith with this information. That member was not RSRT.
It is theoretically possible that RSRT discovered it independently. But not very likely. The quest has been there since vanilla. It seems very coincidental indeed that two people would discover it at exactly the same time after a decade of the quest going unnoticed. The fact it is a new handle, the fact that the details are sketchy (doesn't mention you need to grind to exalted to get the high-value item quests, the lack of a functioning macro)...all important details which any one who had actually discovered it would be aware of, suggest a betrayal of confidence.
There's nothing can be done about this but it is a very bad situation. No one can possibly make any gold out of this now and people's accounts may be in danger who did this.

A leak, in OwnedCore's terms is information or something that comes from a higher / more restricted section and is posted to a "lesser" or more public section of the website.

Thank you for satisfying my curiosity. Let me know privately if I can do anything to help validate your theories.

Where do you get 2-3k from? Assuming it takes 2 seconds to get the item and sell it that's 13k an hour, does it really take 4 times longer than that? I remember in MoP I used a macro for something similar relating to items and it took around 200ms, which would put this in the range of 100k+ an hour. I haven't played WoW in a long time so I don't know how fast selling an item is. I also have no idea how much gold per hour is considered a lot now days.

2-3K was what most people who knew about it were getting. You could do more if you got exalted and access to the higher value items and can optimize the automation-but that's not trivial for most even those competent with this stuff. The stages in the process are a bit more involved than you might imagine - getting it to 2s is difficult.
You can make at least 20K just using mining and herbing efficiently. Someone committed to and expert in gold-making should be making 50K an hour at least. Exploiters can make up to 100k an hour using less high-profile banworthy tricks, though that would require real commitment.
Gold flippers claim to have no effective ceiling on profits: but they are often taking huge risks difficult to mathematically quantify.

Ah, so it is more involved than just talking to an npc then selling the item? 50k an hour is crazy, I remember when I played I thought making 50-80k on the auction house a day was pretty good.

Sorry for causing trouble with it, I actually discovered this independently by chance while clearing AQ40 for the Lucid Nightmare. I was long Exalted with it went to speak to them on a hunch and realised they replace my long sold item freely which are sellable.
I checked the site and couldn’t find it, hence the post.

You did nothing wrong by posting here. Advanta is just a fan of keeping exploits private.
This is a site to share this kind of information, even if it means it doesn't get to live as long.
