Effect: This method produces a very large and relatively fast ticking psudo-HoT on the shaman, healing them for 200k to 1M every few seconds (depending on gear and the particular capital city chosen). This psudo-HoT can last up to 25 days and cannot be dispelled or removed.
Use: With this large psudo-HoT rolling the shaman becomes pretty much unkillable since they will be healed to full every one to two seconds. The only way to kill the shaman would be to do their max HP in damage to them in under a second, which is a very difficult task even for 5 to 10 enemy players.
How it works: The achievement of this effect is the culmination of three separate elements. The first is stacking Flame Shock to multiple hour or day long durations. The second is the large increase in damage high levels do to lower level targets. The final aspect is the use of Glyph of Flame Shock. By combining these three things together we produce a Flame Shock on a low level target (specifically a level 60 target dummy) which lasts for anywhere from hours to days. Every few seconds the Flame Shock ticks for around 20k-150k (depending on gear and buffs) due to the increased damage high levels do on low level targets. 45% of that damage done becomes healing due to Glyph of Flame Shock. By stacking Flame Shocks on multiple target dummies these smaller heals add up into a total psudo-HoT that together heals upward of hundreds of thousands of HP per second.
Steps to replicate:
- Spec into Enhancement
- Make Glyph of Flame Shock active
- Find a low level target dummy (Dummy 1) that is located in close proximity to another target dummy (Dummy 2)
- Cast Flame Shock on Dummy 1
- Cast Lava Lash on Dummy 1
- Cast Lava Lash on Dummy 2
- Cast Lava Lash on Dummy 1
- Cast Lava Lash on Dummy 2
- Repeat steps 5 through 8 until you are satisfied with the remaining duration of your Flame Shock (a few hours to a few days remaining)
- Find a new pair of target dummies and repeat this process until all target dummies in your chosen capital city have a long duration Flame Shock debuff
- Enjoy your massive psudo-HoT
Tips:
- Practice stacking the Flame Shock duration in a friendly capital city before venturing into enemy territory. It takes a few minutes to get a good duration going.
- The more Flame Shocks you have out the more healing you will receive. Even though they might not tick for much on the higher level target dummies and raid boss dummies, it doesn't hurt to have Flame Shocks running on them.
- Use enemy guards or players to transfer long duration Flame Shocks over to far away target dummies so you don't have to re-stack the duration from scratch.
- The max amount of healing you greatly depends on the amount of low level target dummies a capital city has. Orgrimmar for example appears to have the most level 60 dummies, offering the greatest maximum heal potential of all the capital cities. Experiment to see what the max psudo-HoT you can get in each city.
- The glyph works zone wide, so feel free to leave the target dummy area to fight in any other part of the city.
- Some cities will allow the psudo-HoT to work even in the nearby zone while others do not. For example Stormwind dummies will still heal you anywhere in Elwynn Forest, while Orgrimmar dummy heals do not carry over to Durotar.
- For harder hitting Flame Shocks (and thus larger heals) utilize the Elemental Fusion talent and Unleash Elements.
- For quicker stacking of the Flame Shock duration, use Echo of the Elements talent.
- Changing specs does not remove the active Flame Shock debuffs, so feel free to swap to Elemental or Resto after your psudo-HoT is rolling.
- Changing talents or glyphs does not remove the active Flame Shocks either. Careful not to remove your Glyph of Flame Shock though.
- Because how the glyph works, there is no visible psudo-HoT on your character for enemies to see. It only appears as “Flames of Life” in the combat log.
