The GMOTD still works to an extent.

I believe what broke it was when they introduced the guild information on the armory site. When that happens, It most like purges the GMOTD of its crazy shit.

And don't forget about Baragu's Guild Note | World of Warcraft Addons | Curse

indeed, to correct the |3 exploit blizz now disconnects anyone attempting to enter an escape code in MotD or note
