2 profession CD resets a day for ONE character.

After one of hte patches or hotfixes, I noticed that my daily CDs for engineering items was resetting at 3am server time if you counted the cooldown.

I actually remembered to try to do it after 3am server but, upon logging into my character, the reset was now happening in 2hrs and 15 minutes (the usual 3am PST reset)

So, I tried again. I made my item then made sure that I was online when the server ticked over 3am. I was able to make my item again and then the CD was 23hrs and 54 minutes. After logging out and in, the CD was changed to 2hrs 52mins.THE CD RESET AT 3AM SERVER AND AT 6AM SERVER (3AM PST) ON THE SAME DAY

There's a bug with setting the CD reset time when you first make the item. It's set to 3am server instead of 3am PST and, without logging out you can get the 3am server reset and then the 3am PST reset.

So, to get 2xdaily prof CDs on ONE character you need to:

1. Make the item with the CD just before before 3am SERVER time
2. stay online until 3am SERVER time
3. Make the item again before 3am PST (the CD will be resetting at 3am server now)
4. Log out before 3am PST
5. If you log in before 3am PST You will see that the reset on the CD is now 3am PST instead of 3am server.

I assume this DOES NOT work on PST servers since the reset is at 3am

EDIT: Since some people can't comprehend what's actually happening, I bolded the most important part of this post and made it a little easier to understand. take note that SERVER time IS NOT the same as PST

EDIT2: Just an update with another restriction you need to follow to actually get this to work. Specifically, you need to stay online the whole time from making the first CD, going to 3am server and making the second CD then logging out and logging in to have the 2nd cd go from being 3am server to 3am PST.

Basically, the first time you make the item, the CD will reset at 3am SERVER time. If you log out at all before it resets, the CD will reset at 3am PST. So, you have to be connected from the time you first make it until it resets at 3am server then make it again.

also BEWARE: I am unsure if phasing or entering a loading screen will also reset the CD to 3am PST instead of 3am SERVER so your best bet is to just make it at like 2:50 - 2:59 server time then make it again right at 3am server time and log out and in.

It seems they've tried to get all server resets to be 3am regardless of timezone but still have the old reset of 6am PST working as well.

In other words, it doesn't work on most US servers.

To take note, the profession CDs is no longer on a 24hr timer, but is now on a fixed timer. Meaning if I made an item at 1am server time, the CD will reset at the same time that all dailies reset at 3am server time. The CD doesn't state the length of time till the daily resets anymore, but stats that "cooldown resets daily".

So I am not sure which server you're on or if you have an addon to track the hours.

I laughed "abit" after reading this.

Yes, everyone can have 2 CDs in "one day". But what exactly is "one day" for you? Haha! You have just shown the example that the servers are reset every day at 3am.

When you save your CDs the whole "real day" and do it before 3am and then right after 3am, ofc you have 2 CDs in a "perveiced row"! But the following day, the 2nd "Wow-day" so to speak, starts at 3 am. So it has already began with what you call your 2/2 CD. So for this day you have already blown your CD. You have to wait again until 3am of this particular 2nd day then.

This is no Exploit, this is the common mechanic.

Are you a little bit confused? No offense but this works for some people from Tuesday to Wednesday, when the server RESTART is.

My server is EST time-zone. And it's not "most servers" that are PST in US The majority are not PST servers in fact.

You actually still haven't answered our question. How are you seeing the reset timer when all of us now see the CD as "Cooldown resets daily".

You must understand that to be able to effectively try to test your "exploit", we'll need to be able to see the timer.

Right now, my CDs reset @ 3am. @ 6am, the timer still says "Cooldown resets daily". Unless you can tell me specifically which realm still has a 6am reset timer. Since as far as I know, all the US realms I have toons on reset @ a fixed time.

Looks like default UI doesn't show the actual timer but the TSM professions UI does. There's probably a console command to get the CD remaining on a profession craft.

The API for it is GetTradeSkillCooldown(i).

If you do /dump GetTradeSkillInfo(i) and change i until it says [1]="the daily cooldown rec" and then do /dump GetTradeSkillCooldown(i) with the same value for i, you'll get the time remaining.

You ahve to put the big number into SecondsToTime(the number) to see it in easy to read format.


If I can do the 2x cooldown again today, I'll edit the first post to reflect that. It may take 2 days to really figure out how this bug is working though.

I'm guessing it's just 12am server and 3am server if you are on pst server. I'm on pst server but I'm on the Eastcoast so the times match up. 12am=3am, 3am=6am (which is when dailies reset).

Did you do this immediately after a patch or hotfix? Sometimes double CD reset happens after a patch/hotfix is applied. Or when there are server restarts. It's a bug, but hardly repeatable all the time.

Everything I'm reading about professions states that they all reset at 3 AM PST on every single North American realm. Time zone of the server doesn't matter, since with CRZ everything's been made uniform. Europe may be different though.
