Clever use of Mechanics to get "Unlimited" VP at the start of a Patch.

So, i've been using this trick myself during the latest patches which included itemupgrade systems.

How-To:

- Cap 3k Valor Points the regular way(3 weeks)
- Wait for Weekly Reset, Purchase a Random Valor Item and start a timer counting down 2 Hours.
- Begin Capping your Weekly Valor Cap.
- Before the timer runs out, shuffle items from the vendor and refresh any timer you had on the items.
- Once capped fully again, you should be able to have valor points "Stored" as items in your bags.

The timers on these items ONLY tick when you are logged into the game.

I did this myself from 5.1->5.2 having about 11k Valor Points which enabled me to Upgrade all of my gear the first day, and any gearpiece i've ever recieved up to this point.


Now there should be enough time for everyone who're already capped at 3k, to get 5-6k Valor Points before 5.4 comes out.(Yeah Itemupgrades wont be removed)

Wow.. I thought of doing this quite a while ago when it was first implemented but I'm not sure why I didn't. Well done

Edit: 1 Question though, how did you manage to play if the items you had kept on ticking down? Go back to the vendor before 2 hours every time it got close to finishing? Not sure how exactly you play Wow but I wouldn't be too bothered about upgrades unless I did raids or heavy PvP. But if you do them, chances are it's for more than 2 hours or you get a PvP game that's too long and the timer ends.

Also, for people with less than 2,000 Valor on Wednesday, it's too late since it's 1 maintenance day away from 5.4 (September 10th)

You're not the first one having this idea.

I've seen this before, maybe here - not sure, where ppl were telling its fixed and they couldnt resell the items.

I thought they changed this when currency wasn't being converted down. They made it so when realms went offline the timers expired. I think it was like 4.2 or 4.3 when it changed.

I think he said that because you will waste your vp in a useless item you won't be able to give back and refund your vp

Plus if you did this going from 5.1 into 5.2 how did you upgrade anything I'm sure they removed item upgrades in 5.2 and they returned in 5.3.

Yep, valor npcs were only bought back in 5.3 + as far as i remember 5.2 had like 10 hours of downtime when everyone was qqing on blizz forums. soo the timer on your items should have been gone.

Plus there will be NO new valor vendor in 5.4, and even if that was working, but its not, you would have the chance to return the item for the reduced valor price of the items, or the justice equivalent
