Blizzard will have to issue free days to the people on the servers who were effected. That means those are days Blizzard didn't get paid.
"So what" you might ask? Well the problem with actually costing Blizzard money is that your account with Blizzard is a contract, a legaly binding contract. When you intentionally breach the contract by using your normal exploit, you may screw the game up but you don't cost Blizzard actual cash, so they are happy to just ban you. But when you intentionally breach the contract and cost Blizzard money you are setting yourself up for a potential lawsuit from Blizzard IRL. It could end up costing you real money.
If you add up the amount of money Blizzard will have lost by having to issue free game days because of this hack, it will probably add up to a very large amount. That large amount may very be big enough for them to justify the legal fees to go after the people responsible. Which perhaps could even include this beloved site?
There is a big difference between figuring out how to find God Mode and crashing servers, just be sure you are willing to take the risks before you decide to do either.
